Welcome to the Retro Game Gauntlet, gentlemen.
Start at NES, and work through in the following order:
NES
SNES
GB/GBC
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA
Commodore 64
Playstation 1
You have three days to complete the game without assistance (each game gets three days, though RPGs are allowed a week due to length).
Select your system here:
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html
You can also do it manually if you don't trust the random number generator:
http://s3kr.it/systems/
Rules:
1) Savestates are allowed ONLY for the purpose of taking screenshots and ONLY if your emulator/game in question does not have a pause function.
2) Rerolls are allowed under the following conditions:
-The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
-The game would otherwise require cheats, hacks, or alteration of the software to complete due to a bug (eg, Cheetahmen II)
For games that have a high score or no end, the rule is
>if no high score has been established, set a goal and beat it
>if you.re playing something another anon already has a high score on, beat their high score
>if you are playing extended rpgs/pokemon/whatever you get a week (Depending on the game: needs to be asked in thread)
AND BRING ME SCREENSHOTS PARKER
IRC channel: #gauntlet on irc.rizon.net (Mibbit link on site)
NEW RULES/GUIDELINES TO POSTING IN THE GAUNTLET THREADS:
-Do not post screenshots every other screen, make them few and meaningful
-Do not start a new thread before current one bump limit is exceeded
it's been far too long since I saw one of these threads. dont know if they were banned or just intrest lost.
my starting game is Mig 29 Soviet Fighter
>>3352317
What if I rolled earliera half of a year agoand I played that game?
Should I take to next platform?
>>3352317
>GBA
Oh wait
>>3352323
did you beat the game? if so go ahead
>>3352330
huh didnt notice that, I just used the old copypasta found here
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html
guess the updated ruleset that I missed replaced the systems with these
NES
SNES
GB/GBC OR Sega Game Gear
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA OR Sega Master System
Commodore 64 OR Commodore Amiga
Playstation 1 OR Nintendo 64
use this site for the games and use random.org to get your number http://vgauntlet.wikia.com/wiki//v/_Gauntlet_Wiki
I burnt out on these last year when I kept getting stuck with some truly terrible games.
>>3352349
there's no shame in that, theres some truly awful games that was made
>>3352360
Yeah I was excited about the idea of finidng new games I might have otherwise never given a chance, but I kept getting shit rolls especially for NES, GB, and Commodore. I feel like the crap games outnumber the good games on those systems.
do you think it'd be for the best of the gauntlet to allow 2 rerolls on each system?
>>3352337
Does the wiki have more games listed? Why not just use the s3kr generator
>>3352386
either one works, I just remember it seemed to favor more "popular" games since TMNT and zelda seemed to be pretty common rolls.
>>3352398
did you use s3kr generator or random.org?
>>3352409
s3kr, but I doubt it's so much an issue with that generator as it is just the simple fact that, looking back, pretty much all consoles had more shitty/broken/shovelware games than they did really great ones that could stand the test of time.
Soviet Fighter fag here, this game is a pain in the ass q,q
>>3352317
>-The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
Boktai has a fine patch so that's not really an excuse. If anything it makes the game too easy since you don't actually have to rely on it being sunny when you're playing.
Anyway I got Mickey's Safari in Letterland, sounds shitty but will try and get through that.
>>3352783
good luck man!
>>3352323
I usually just re-roll until I get a game I didn't finish.
>>3352783
Well I just beat it, 3 times in fact
Took about 15 minutes total
>>3352317
>GBA
>>3352917
well shit, good job. guess that's what happens when you roll a game used to teach children to learn letters and words.
onward to the next console
>>3352927
I just got the pasta from the wiki, I'll fix it next thread
>>3352928
Just noticed the list excludes most Japan only games so I'll drop this, even if I found some external list it'd be kinda lame being the only one.
I did this once before, I think it was on /v/, and rolled a Japanese game, so I wonder if they were removed at some point.
Nice. I've never actually played the NES Batman game, despite hearing lots of good things about it. Apparently it's supposed to be pretty tough too, I'll have toboot it up in a bit.
>>3352960
Removing the Japanese games would be stupid, seeing as the whole point is to play shit you'll never give a chance otherwise. Only time I'd say skipping a Japanese game would be if text was necessary to complete, like RPGs or quiz type games. Any Japanese action game doesn't need lots of reading.
Awful assortment of systems/platforms.
>>3352987
Well I went through the lists and can't find some Japan only games that I was thinking about so I have no interest in randomly generated game challenge filled with American shovelware.
>>3352960
I've rolled plenty of Japanese games on the s3kr randomizer before, though admittedly, I haven't rolled in a long time.
Rollin' for fun because I miss these threads and I've found some cool games through this although I don't have much intention of playing seriously in the next few days because other things. Know absolutely nothing about this one.
at mission 2, it seems like the high score for this game is 10,000. I'm going for 12k at least. cant seem to get past mission 2 though.
hope you guys are having better luck then me
also would anyone be against name fagging in these threads?
>>3353016
People will know who you are by your screenshots
>>3353023
fair enough
Last time I did a gauntlet it taught me that I don't have the patience for NES games anymore
That guy on /v/ that rolled cheetahman
the game fucked up himself, does it count as a win?
Well, at least that faggot who kept spamming the threads won't bug us anymore. I don't usually like calling shit "autism" but my god that shit was awful.
Anywho, fucking meteor out of nowhere. See also: land octopus.
mods on /v/ are fucking faggots so I guess we're moving here
>>3354531
Given the quality of threads there in general I'm not surprised. LoL-style dick-measuring contests over Overwatch and bitching about games journalism? Good content. Actual video games? Nah fuck that.
>>3354531
currently on Pocky and Rocky 2 by the way
>>344798556
After the battle the Tom jumps onto a helicopter and flies away, and that's the end of the game. All in all, it was a very mediocre game. It was a good time-waster but I wont be returning to it anytime soon.
Next up is the gamegear. Playing it will have to wait until tomorrow but I'm at least going to roll my game.
/v/ mods are niggers. What logic is there in banning actual fucking video games
Anyways, we're at the final stretch fellas. Let's meet our maker in the exciting conclusion of Bart vs The world
>>3354541
I want to say I do, but honestly if the game just progressed 3 times faster it'd be a lot easier to deal with. Energy gathering is hideously slow and I don't even know if this game has an end condition. I kind of want to learn more, but I can't really use a guide because it's the gauntlet, and if I'm gonna tryhard on this it's gonna be on the PC version 100%. Vast majority of the time the SNES versions of Maxis games are way worse from my experience.
Not to mention this game's sound design is fucking HORRID. Music is fucking shit, and the only sounds this game is making make me jump out of my seat every time. Once every 20-30 seconds, even. It's a good attempt at the game, I'll give 'em that, but this type of game just didn't really work on a console at the time. It's like Starcraft 64 that way. That is a real thing by the way, I rented it from Blockbuster once.
>>3352398
You're missing out.
https://youtu.be/Ks8Rqe8manQ
We're almost done guys, the champ is shaking in his boots
>>3352398
I would've missed that cool Mickey Mouse game, and some other dude got Felix the Cat. Don't knock a licensed game before you try it.
>>3354550
Bring it faggot
>>3354547
That is a promising title. I wonder what kind of game it will be. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. Good luck to all the anons still playing.
I'm about ready to give up on SimEarth. I love me some strategy games but this is fucking dumb. I'm not even playing the game, I have 4chan open for 10 minutes while I slowly build the minimum amount of energy needed to do anything. Which is 500 for most intents and purposes.
>>3354562
Anything made by capcom is pretty solid, generally
>>3354571
Like, I'm not even kidding. This shit averages like 1 energy every 5 seconds, and this hideous fucking clanking noise roaring from the emulator every 30 while I have this shit in the background. Time to reroll.
>>3354572
It wasn't a capcom game.
He got the japanese micky mouse games.
>>3354563
Oh shit
That wasn't even his final form
Fuck
>>3354575
You'll have to go back down to NES though
>>3354572
>>3354579
Yeah, specifically Mickey Mouse 3: Yume Fuusen by Kemco. Was pretty good actually.
Now for my reroll. I'm not hopeful about this one at all, but at least it's a goddamn platformer and not something I have to play by letting it sit in the background for hours while getting Chinese water tortured by some of the worst sound design known to man.
>>3354582
Every time.
>>3354583
I don't care. I'd rather beat a second NES game than play through SimEarth without a guide. I'll play Super Adventure Island after this.
Sounds fun
Oh look
a game I really enjoy and played the shit out of back in the day.
>>3354582
>Climbing on air
I feel like there's a joke in here somewhere
>>3354594
Okay this is a light gun game. Cool!
>>3354598
Let's see if it lives up to it's name
What happened to the /v/ thread?
Anyway, the last level of Ganbare Goemon is fucking shit. It's just jumping around the same corriodrs over and over again, trying to find new passages. It feels like I've been playing this stage for an hour and I still haven't found a way out of this loop of corridors. I don't even know what to look for exactly.
>>3354616
>Rad Rex
We'll never be as cool as this guy
>>3354545
big guy
First time here. Good luck, anons
>>3354616
I'm already fucking dead. I wasn't expecting to have to play an NES game where my spazz hands would be the end of me, but here we are. Thankfully I don't have to headshot anything, but it ain't great.
>>3354620
Mod purged it for being videogames, can't have that on /v/
>>3354619
>top downer
>inverted movement
>have to hold b to move
meh
Maybe it'll get better
>>3354624
I'm no good at this game I might have to go back to NES
>>3354638
>>inverted movement
>>have to hold b to move
What
Why
>>3354640
You got three days man
>>3354629
Made it to level 2, died again. Normally this wouldn't be hard, I just blow at doing stuff fast with a mouse in general because my hands have shitty fine motor control. I can't rank down any lower than this so I'm re-rolling again.
>>3354643
Meant to say A
still it's pretty bad
thankfully i'm just hitting still targets for now
>>3354625
Nice, japanese Shatterhand
>>3354560
One more fighter and we're fighting the champ, let's go!
>>3354656
Nice! Shatterhand's a great game, enjoy it
The /v/ version of the thread got deleted so I'll post here then
In our last episode, B.O.B. perished right next to a full health pickup
>>3354650
That's better. Rad Racer 2, looks like an Outrun clone. I lost on the first lap, but at least it's just because I suck and not because it's like asking a quadriplegic to run laps. Let's do this.
>>3354674
Fun but brutal and sometimes unfair game. How far in are you?
>>3354614
>About to reach the end sign
>Miss the platform by a fucking pixel
>Die
>On my last life
>Have to go through all that shit again
Hold me
>>3354691
I feel ya man, NES simpsons games are total shit
>>3354691
You can make it, I beat that fucking thing 100% with all the treasures as a kid. Couldn't do that with Space Mutants, but VS The World is beatable. The worst level is in Hollywood when you have to go from giant "RIP" headstone to giant "RIP" headstone. Fuck that level with a rake.
>>3354682
Fuck! Why do I always forget how to drift properly in these games?
This won't affect me too much, but do I get 3 days or a week for this?
>>3354674
Oh boy, time for a lava stage
>>3354690
I started the second planet today. The game really punishes you for being an idiot, and also sometimes punishes you for no reason. I just climbed a long ladder riddled with flamethrowers and it ended in a dead end with more flamethrowers. I wish passwords were not that scarce.
Not my favorite game, but I'm still having fun
>>3354717
If it qualifies as an RPG it's a week
>>3354716
This shit needs to stop. Not only do you jackasses clog up 3 lanes at once several times per course, 2 of you fucks never let me pass, and even worse, you decide to switch lanes while I'm passing you. Go turn in your licenses.
>>3354646
>>3354640
I'll try
>>3354756
Good luck, I always got stuck there as a kid.
>>3354748
The problem is, you're not in the right state of mind
Listen to this, it should set you straight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv13gl0a-FA
>>3354761
>>3354756
Hey I did it
That wasn't so bad
>>3354776
You joke, but the game's default music setting is "no music". I thought I was having emulation problems, but as it turns out, "sing yourself" is not meant to be a song name.
>>3354729
Instant death trap, my favorite!
And now all my ammo is gone
Welcome to /vr/ the only place to talk about videogames on 4chan, bros. Sorry the reddit mods deleted your thread on /v/. You should've known better.
It'll be a nice injection of life into the gauntlet threads here though. It's been awhile since we had a real active one.
I need to roll up an NES game when I get home.
>>3354793
Sounds like a miserable playthrough, keep at it man, it'll only make you strongertill the next shitty game
>>3354786
Bingo! Keep in mind, this is one of those racing games where if you're not optimizing your speed at all times, you're fucked. You basically have to be going at 200+ mph at all times. Rear-ending someone and dropping to 150 will probably kill you if it happens 2-3 times. Spinning out completely by hitting a tree is a guaranteed loss. This game doesn't fuck around, but it's pretty fun in its own way.
This is my next game Is it complete able in 3 days?
>>3354828
game FAQs says it's about a 15 hour game
>>3354820
No continues either. It's on.
OP here, thanks for joining the gauntlet /v/ it's very appreciated and might spark the gauntlet to stay for a bit longer than normal this time around
on my side I'm still having trouble with Mig 29 Soviet Fighter. But on mission 2 with almost 4k points and full lives
>>3354620
Man, fuck this game.
This gauntlet idea is still lots of fun overall, but fuck this game. The general gameplay is just plain boring, if anything it reminds me of that shitty Little Red Hood game from AVGN. Still, once you figure out what you're supposed to be looking for, it's fairly easy, aside from some platforming sections. In the final level though, it changes the formula completely from the rest of the game and starts hiding not only shops, but also the fucking main objective in background scenery. I've been stuck on this level for like 2 hours, before I accidentally came upon a shop and just started touching the walls of every section of the stage, until I found the right room and beat the game.
>>3354828
Drakkhen is an rpg, so it's a week
>>3354793
Uh oh, another pod racing stage
GET ME OFF THIS WILD RIDE
>>3354801
There are a lot of horrible games, B.O.B. isn't one and I like platformers, but oh boy is it unforgiving sometimes
>>3354854
Ending cutscene.
Maybe I'm just being too hard on this, because it's already 1AM here and I should get some sleep, but I'm really hoping I roll a better game next time.
Im the guy who rolled Samurai Pizza Cats on nes last night on /v/.
I finished it and cannot wait till later to roll a snes game.
>>3354782
>>3354904
Pretty easy
>>3354902
Congrats and good luck on your upcoming game
I rolled Shockwave for NES, an unlicensed puzzler by the developers of Wally Bear and the NO! Gang.
This doesn't sound pleasing.
>>3354656
Fuck this elevator section
GODDAMMIT
>>3354878
What the fuck am I fighting
So, for Arcade games, do we just go and get the high score?
>>3354927
Did I ever mention I hate puzzle games?
>>3354918
>>3354932
I thought it was dead, but it had two forms
We died at the same time, but the game took pity and let me progress to the next stage. Onwards for more adventures!
>>3354939
>For games that have a high score or no end, the rule is
>if no high score has been established, set a goal and beat it
>if you.re playing something another anon already has a high score on, beat their high score
All from the topic, my man.
Unless anybody has a claim on the high score for that game, you can consider that passed.
>>3354691
Alright, I think this is the final boss
Lend me your power guys
oh boy
apparently this game is pretty easy.
>>3354942
>Grab a bite to eat
>Sit back down
>Press start
>This happens
Uh, maybe I should try a different core.
>>3354952
WE DID IT BOYS
WE DID IT
>>3354970
That's quite the puzzle anon
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
>>3354975
With Bart's adventures finished, and Anon's hands sore, we head on to our next game for the SNES
Where will the road take us next? Find out after these commercial breaks
>>3354662
After two hours, I can't beat the #2
I might have to give up and go back down to GB/GBC
>>3354991
Forgot the picture of that smug fuck
>>3354946
Another boss already? I got insta toasted.
I need a break, will be back later
>>3354990
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqRfI5jqz1U
As you wish it.
Little Schmup it seems.
>>3354945
>>3355010
Holy shit my gun is so awesome. It seeks, too. Getting powerups in this game is wicked easy.
>>3354560
>not naming your boxer Wojak or Guy Feels
you already lost
>>3354998
And we're back
Seems like we'll be getting into Aaahh!!! Real Monsters! Never watched the show, but hopefully this isn't absolutely awful like Bart vs. The World
>>3354991
My boxing skill isn't up to snuff
We'll have to go back down the gauntlet to train some more.
I didn't even know there was a sequel to blaster master, anyone try this?
>>3355018
omg
>>3355017
That was just too easy
>>3355029
lol rekt
And that is that. Sadly I pressed Esc and not F1 which closed my Retroarch, so here's a pic I got from google of the credits
Doing this in order for fun. Not putting a time limit on myself because I have shit to do.
Let's see what I get...
>NES - Your game is "Super Mario Bros 3"! Now go play it
>SNES - Your game is "Secret of Evermore"! Now go play it
>GB/GBC - Your game is "Adventure Island 2 "! Now go play it
>Megadrive/Genesis - Your game is "Dick Tracy"! Now go play it
>Turbografx16 - Your game is "Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Volume 2"! Now go play it
>DOS - Your game is "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers"! Now go play it
>NeoGeo - Your game is "Bomberman: Panic Bomber "! Now go play it
>GBA - Your game is "High School Musical - Livin' the Dream"! Now go play it
>Commodore 64 - Your game is "Questron"! Now go play it
>Playstation 1 - Your game is "Bloody Roar "! Now go play it
Okay, so... a question.
I literally rolled my favorite NES and SNES games respectively. Played both of them at least a dozen times, and at least once very recently. I also recently played Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. Should I reroll?
>High School Musical - Livin' the Dream
This should be fun.
Well shit.
Never really liked this game.
Yaaaay.
>>3355048
If you feel like it, the whole point of this is trying out new "old" games
>>3352317
How fucked am I?
>>3355070
I'm going a Schmup also. Quick break to admire this ammo babe you get to check out between stages.
Another one of the /v/ guys here. To be honest we were pushing our luck by not making Pokemon Go or Overwatch threads.
I'm playing Strike Gunner for SNES. Not really into shooters so I can't say I'm enjoying it. This is the third stage boss
>>3355028
Seems like it's a port of the nes game with 50% less screen size, this'll be interesting
>>3355032
That is not a box.Or is that part of the surprise?
>>3355084
Nice
>>3354930
lol, nope
>>3355070
Never played this game before but after completing the first level, I can say this:
>Game is a flight sim with some sort of early 3d perspective
>Various Missions in the middle east destroying targets and fighting off enemy aircrafts.
>Controls are rather basic, maneuvers are preformed with d-pad, misses with B, Machine gun with A.
>Kind of reminds me of some early Ace Combat type of arcade fighter sim
So far not too bad.
>>3355090
Lucky!
>>3355096
Here we go, last area.
>>3355023
Somehow it's even MORE shitty than Bart vs The World
I'd rather take my chances at another SNES game
>>3355149
*NES
>>3355078
And here's the stage 4 boss. It's much bigger than this, but I didn't want to take screenshots while fighting it. I hope there's not too much left, I'm sick of this game
>>3355074
The bosses in this game rule.
Decided to do things a bit differently for my gauntlet attempt. I've played lots of NES games over the years, an always end up doing a lot when I attempt a gauntlet. I've never played a single Master System game though, and seeing that on the list at s3kr but not in the gauntlet I decided to just swap NES for Master System for a change of pace.
Ended up getting Black Belt, looks like a fun beat 'em up. Apparently in Japan it was a Fist of the North Star game so I'm going to try tracking a rom of that version down to play because I love me some FotNS.If I didn't have such a shit mic I'd stream my gauntlet.
>>3355104
Ok, after a quick bathroom break, I am now in the second stage. As you can see, the game is full on simulation. Not sure if this works all that well with a NES controller. The game has some pretty decent simulation for its time. Allso realized I was playing on the easy difficulty. I am more concerned with trying to complete the game at the moment.
>>3355153
This has a final stage vibe, let's hope it is so
>>3355081
This guy seems like a boss
Is Hey You! Pikachu! possible on an emulator?
>>3355197
Now we're in buisness, ready to rock
>>3355090
this guy seems to have dialog judging by the noise but the word bubble didn't appear
>>3355171
Not gonna lie this level is fucking hard, /vr/.
>>3355183
>all enemies die in one hit
>bosses don't flinch when you hit them and keep attacking
This is going to be tedious as hell...
>>3355187
It wasn't, but at least it was more fun than the previous five stages.
By the way, this boss was fucking pathetic. If you stand where I am on the pic on its first phase it can't hurt you. Later two walls with turrets come on the sides, but if you stand right in front of the boss it's easily avoidable.
>>3355130
I've always found Boss Rushes so satisfying, just killing all of them much easier and seeing how you got better at the game.
>>3355198
No
>>3355219
In that case, is a reroll okay since I am unable to play it in the first place?
>>3355185
2 Down, 5 to go. Had to replay the second mission twice.
>>3355224
Yes, I suggest you reroll and hopefully get a game you haven't played before.
>>3355205
I've reached area 2, but I think I'll have to head back to one eventually, there's a few areas I couldnt get to or was blocked from
>>3352987
So I played a bit Batman last night and on and off throughout the day, and I suck at it. Might be rerolling tomorrow if I dont beat it in time.
>>3355215
And here's the stage seven boss. I can't really say a lot about it since I used my special weapon against him which was a giant fuck you laser that killed him in one hit.
I suppose I should explain that. There's like sixteen special weapons in the game, and you're supposed to select one before each stage. Once you use one in a stage, you can't use it ever again.
Anyway, I think I'll do stage 8 tomorrow. I don't think there's too much left and I'm too tired now
>>3355245
Whoops, forgot the image
>>3355235
Don't feel too bad man, the game is really tough, even for NES standards
>>3354995
I'm pretty sure this boss is impossible with the ammo they give you in his stage. I cheesed him by bringing Super Wave ammo from previous stages and killing it in 4 hits.
And the following levels are approaching the bullshit singularity.
>>3355207
I thought this game was supposed to be hard
>>3355247
Yeah thats what I've gathered from reading around online about it. That's one thing I enjoy about these gauntlets, reading up on the history and opinions of the game as it came out. Some games are easier to find info about than others.
I've always been more of a strategy/rpg gamer, but I'm decent enough at these sort of beat em up platformers, but this one has been a toughie. I think the biggest issue I have with it is you only have two buttons: action and jump. By default your action is punch, and when you switch to batarang, missiles, etc it replaces punch. The problem is the switch button is the start button, so its not easy to switch during fighting enemies. You pretty much need to anticipate and switch weapons before encountering the next enemy. It has taken some getting used to.
There seems to be unlimited continues at least, so it's more a matter of sitting down and working through it.
>>3355248
>right pit is the path to the exit
>left pit leads to instant death
why
>>3355209
omfg okay got that one down. That was 6 so that should be like halfway I would assume.
>>3355225
Down to four left. The game is starting to feel tedious and a bit boring at this point. You have to achieve a high enough score for each mission to get a promotion and to proceed to the next area. The key is to destroy as many ground and air fighters as you can. Further research into this game via wikipedia indicates that this game was made by none other than the legend Sid Meier and was released on other platforms as well.

Ahead lies the final boss of World 2
I'm scared
>>3355320
His hands crush you in one hit. I perished and am back two stages behind
>>3355253
neat
>>3355331
>>3355284
Did itttttttttttttttt
Hopefully I get something decent for SNES
>>3355340
This game was pretty fun and silly, though. Do recommend if you like Shmups.
>>3355335
only got hit once
>>3355343
wtf
>>3355234
I found the key for this level but I am completely lost, the game reminds me of the first metroid game. No map and corridors that all look the same. I'm calling it quits for tonight, good luck on your runs guys
>>3355345
This is ridiculous
>>3355351
So you don't even get to select your character, and your opponent has actually already shit himself.
you know this board is shit because no one tells the retard running fucking 16:9 scaled NES games to fuck himself.
>>3355325
Hurray! To my surprise, the power up that paralyzes all enemies for 10 seconds works on bosses.
>>3355225
Not too shabby. Should be able to finish at least under 3 days.
>>3355219
>for hours
>>3355392
>>3355381
we outta here
World 3 can wait for tomorrow, and hopefully it's the last
>>3355370
Apparently Russian is a place, not a nationality.
>>3355392
I was going to call it a night and finish the game tomorrow but I am close enough to drive on through the game.
Here is some relevant music:

>>3355414
>>3355357
oh god I can't do this with only one hit left
>>3355423
On second thought. I need some rest. Hands are starting to hurt a bit. I will finish tomorrow I hope.
>>3355443
Alright I'm in much better shape now
>>3355464
What the hell, sometimes it's simply not possible to dodge his attack
This is bullshit
>>3355496
This shit, he goes to the edge of the screen with it and it always hits you
>>3355503
FINALLY
This game makes me want to kill myself.
Alright, let's do this.
>>3355551
What the hell, I got the exact same game earlier lol
>>3355545
Is this the last level?
>>3355551
First boss time.
>>3355557
Hell yeah
>>3355414
This fighting game was fucking trash. There was a jump button, for one. The characters were pretty blatant Street Fighter ripoffs. Also, you can only do the story mode as one character which starts off with less stats than every other character, but can earn more stats as you win fights. Makes no sense. Anyway, 0/10, never playing again, into the Recycle Bin it goes.
>>3355574
Why must I suffer?
>>3355569
Running around town helping out the townsfolk.
So last night I rolled and got Metal Gear 2 which I had played last year when I was playing all the MGS games, so then I rerolled and got a game I played during my last roulette. Then I rerolled twice more and both games were ones I had gotten in roulette. Out of curiousity I kept rerolling and noticed there were a handful of games that seemed to repeat at least once and pretty often to each other - Moon Crystal, Dragon Power, Little Ghosts, and Rad Racer especially.
I know nothing about RNGs but it just seems weird to me.
Anyway I just rolled again and got something I've not played before - Jeopardy. We'll see how it goes I guess
>>3355589
Forgot my image.
Also it doesn't seem to have any sort of high score system or anything. It does offer 3 difficulty levels so maybe I'll just set it to max and consider the game beaten when I win a game.
>>3355595
I'll switch you your NES game for my GBC game.
>>3355597
Boarder Zone? Fuck no
Besides I get to be Ron Burgandy in this. Moot would be happy you can also be a little girl
>>3355584
And now I'm a pig.
>>3355570
I love this completely out of place robot partner
>>3355607
And now I'm in heaven. This game is interesting.
>>3355605
You can't see it in pictures, but Diane looks like she's jerking someone off when she gets a right answer. My character shakes his fist at the other contestants.
Also I just realized taking screenshots in retroarch screws with the color for some reason. Going to have to check if the F8 key is asigned to something else as well.
>>3355610
>>3355618
Boss number 2 coming in hot.
>>3355619
When the AI gets a question wrong they just type gibberish. But then I realized near the end of the first round that they actually just replace a bunch of letters from the correct answer with exclamation. This has been a help when something is on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember completely. I've gotten a few answers right thanks to these "hints"
Also there was a category on comic books that I completely swept, so that helped give me a boost.
>>3355637
I fucked up and now I get to start the whole game over again. I'll keep you posted, but I won't clog the thread with shit you've already seen.
I was doing really well, almost end of the second round and then my head disappeared an the computer opponents suddenly got a $5500 boost.
>>3355661
Nevermind, it said I'm still in the lead apparently. Final Jeopardy is Hollywood History and I'm going all in baby
So that was bizarre, I knew I was in the lead by quite a bit but after their winnings glitched out and they got a bunch more questions wrong I have no idea where they were at. Also being a Chaplin fan saved my ass since I went all-in needlessly and could've really screwed the pooch.
It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be, a lot of the questions were relatively easy. I was expecting more tough stuff, especially if there was 80's pop trivia or something.
I'm calling it a win and rolling an SNES game tomorrow.
>>3355628
OUT OF TIME?!
>>3355736
I am sorry to hear that, anon.
>>3355739
Doesn't matter, I'll get him this time
>>3355650
Finally figured out what I had to do. Had to go back and forth between heaven and earth to get some rings so I could get some scroll completely uncursed.
>>3355742

>>3355736
TAKE THIS YOU GARDEN GNOME BASTARD
>>3355781
This localization, seals become "magic cards" and the gohei "magic wand"
>>3355784
fun game, now on to GB/GBC
>>3355775
Giant enemy crab
>>3355792
Oh this is gonna be a piece of cake!
>>3355793
Crab down. Oh shit it's the princess.
>>3355798
Dragon came out of nowhere and stole the princess' soul. I was hoping that was the end, but looks like I still got some work to do.
>>3355792
Gratz!!
>>3355681
I was bored and decided I'd roll tonight. Actually got another Jeopardy game, but I'm not going to do it all over again. I wanted something with actual gameplay so I rerolled. Got FF5 which I've never played before and has been on my backlog for ever. This should be fun, I'll be back in a week I guess and progress updates as I go.
The real question is do I keep him as Butz or let you guys pick?
>>3355809
Do your eyes get used to this game? Every one of your screenshots makes my eyes bleed
>>3355815
The looks of the game takes a while to get used to.
I've been playing it with the brightness turned all the way down because it started giving me eye strain.
>>3355797
Question: Am I allowed to use the "skip marowak with a pokedoll" exploit?
>>3355813
Dude, FF5 is my favorite of the main games.
The job system allows you to customize your characters to your suiting, you will enjoy it.
Doesn't matter what you call him or just call him Anon.
>>3355817
As much as some people shit bricks over people using them, I find some of those "crt" shaders help with some older games like that not looking so good on modern monitors. Retroarch's CRT-Easymode one is really simple and not crazy overblown. I find it makes 2D games a bit nicer looking myself.
>>3355819
Why not just reroll for a game you've never played before?
>>3355823
Yeah I've played other games that always get compared to 5 for it's job system, but never got around to playing 5 for some reason. It helps that I was also really in the mood for a new RPG to play as well, so even better.
>>3355825
>Why not just reroll for a game you've never played before?
Because I've been lucky enough to get 3 good games in a row and I don't want to ruin this
>>3355829
That kind of thinking is going to have karma bite you in the ass when you get to DOS and Commodore games
>>3355809
So I'm just going through this maze of a castle and this statues are saying Help Me. Too spooky
>>3355858
Alright so I got something called the Dragon Slayer and a pendant but i'm lost. Should I try to see what the pendant does?
>>3355873
Alright so the pendant warped me back out of the castle. Hope I don't have to go back there.
