Here's a thread for Gb/GBC music that gets overshadowed, underappreciated or downright ignored. Bring in the best tunes.

I'll give ya a hard time by sharing some of the coolest tracks -

Alberto Jose Gonzalez is the best composer on the Game Boy /Color. He provided quality in large quantities, which is pretty amazing. If you think he is good, you're still underselling him. He is pretty fucking genius. The GB's soundchip should have "I'm Alberto Jose Gonzalez bitch." written on it, that's how good he is.
We already have to examples of his work in here, the GB Turok titles and Lucky Luke. He made all the music for French comic license games on the GB, that's why he is so unknown and underrated. Let's get through with this.

The one I liked the most was, surprisingly, the one from Tweety's high flying adventure. Something beautiful about it.

>>2828768

Sound quality is kind of impressive but I'm not moved by the melody.

>>2829003

listened to every single one

that smurf's song (the very first one you posted) is really something else. all the sound effects during it really add to it. one of the best GC tracks I've heard. Like how it's not just the typical "beat"
And interesting, the next song that really moved me was the "Key" from the other Smurfs game. Some interesting atmospheric stuff going on. Was he just really inspired by the smurfs?
That Otto Ottifanten one is pretty high quality cheer music

I can really see where my tastes lie...I'm less interesting in the simple "beat with melody" catchy ones than the ones that try to be kind of atmospheric, which is why I'm not a huge fan of a lot of these. Great thread

i apologize if this is off-topic, but how exactly do the people who make chiptune music rip the samples from the systems? im aware of vgmusic.com, but i would like to process some of these 8 bit noises through effects so that i can have my own set of unique samples.

ive tried using renoise (a tracker program with built in effects) to do this, however some of the built-in effects are kind of cheap sounding. i would much rather use my analog effect pedals to ensure that i have the cleanest, noise free samples i can capture, in addition to having real-time control over said effects.

ive tried asking this on /mu/ but that board is intolerable, and i wouldnt dare try to obtain any serious information from /v/

any advice would be appreciated, and i am not above spending some money to get the necessary hardware to do this.

I see these threads and I go "Oh yeah this game from when I was a kid had great music"
then I look it up on Youtube because someone has had to put it up. On top of all that, if threads were just a bunch of mp3 download links, I probably wouldn't visit them. Having Youtube links embedded in the site is convenient for switching from song to song fast without downloading anything.

Also, I still do believe that the lavander theme is top tier

and that the gold/silver version is highly unappreciated

I'm really surprised and disappointed this isn't on youtube.

This thread is not complete without the final boss (Garuda) theme from Ninja Gaiden Shadow:

Wish someone would do a metal remix.

If you have to post GBA music, at least post those which actually use the GBs sound channels.

Not that guy, but please teach me what that means exactly.

The GBA is made to produce music like this.

Sampletune, like the SNES or Amiga. Now, you probably know it's fully backwards compatible, that is because it actually has a Game Boy inside, which allows it to make use of the GB's soundchip to produce actual chiptune. I think wikipedia calls these legacy channels. The links I posted obviously sound like music coming from the original DMG and not the unoriginal GBA. Konami used those legacy channels quite often, afaik.

Solar Striker easily has some of the best music of any GB game. Especially the stage 1/2 track.

Lavender is pretty good, but Vermillion has the best theme in Red/Blue.

This one is actually kind of overrated. Not say it isn't good, but on a musical level, it is far too simple and unambitious. Even in my head I can think of parts where it could really shine. Like where I'm expecting a note and it doesn't come.

I literally cannot believe the most viewed videos has that stupid effect.

Why would this necessitate the /thread command? Even if it is arguably the best example of X in an ITT: X thread, that doesn't preclude further postings to the thread — especially if it's the obvious example that everyone was already thinking of. OP wasn't asking for the single best tune but for multiple tunes.
