Someone mentioned to get a faster load time on the game, you can download the offline maps in google maps. You just go into google maps, go to your main location you farm, click the tab in the top left and click on offline areas. This will let you download a precache grid to use as info for the game, instead of it trying to reload the info each time by accessing gmaps.
Again, not sure if it's snake oil, but my load times seem twice as fast now when I need to restart.

As far as anyone knows, the CP bar is logarithmic and never really ends. You are limited by your level though, so there's probably a soft cap as a result of that.
Obviously that means you want pokemon with higher base CP at each level stop, but it's a moving target.

Check weight and height. XS means manlet skeleton and XL means fit tall bro. XS has less HP and DMG whereas the 6'5 master race with decent weight gets more in those stats. If your Hypno is a manlet, he is useless just like RL.

To answer your other questions: CP and HP are completely unrelated.
A large Pokemon seems to have a higher HP, and a small Pokemon seems to have higher CP, but that's just my own anecdotal evidence.
Saving candies is stupid. Save stardust as much as possible, it's way harder to get.
The CP limit moves up each time your trainer levels up.

I've been hunting "obscure" gyms that are already claimed by my team, but I live about 15 minutes from Boston, so the most obscure shit is still usually in a popular suburb.
There's a tower in the woods that's a gym and it's constantly being fought over. I went there at 6:30 yesterday and ended up in a battle with another person over it.
The worst part is all you get from gyms is a paltry 10 coins and some stardust, but I don't even need coins with all the items I have.
I put a shitty pidgeot I have at a gym over night because I happened to be in town where there actually are some.
Since I live out in the suburbs I don't have any pokemon with high CP.
Needless to say the 200 some CP pidgeot got sent back to me over night.

I found out today that if you're fighting, another person can join you in battle, while you're already battling. Though it seems if they do more damage, or get the killing blow? they get the gym. I got this dude down to half hp, and then this faggot arcanine came in and fucked his shit up. Thought he was on Yellow team and we got it now, turns out he had a 1.5k and took it for Red from Blue.

I use a gs3 myself, and haven't really had problems besides being slightly laggy and heating up rather fast. Try to do the gmaps precache grid for offline. Also turn on any possible battery and cpu saving shit (auto brightness, no other programs running, power saving mode, etc etc). Since you're using the apk, make sure it's not a virus filled one via the permissions it's giving. Saw some that were literal pages long, while the real ones are about 10 things or so total in allowance.

I bike everywhere on my cruiser. Will say it's very much worth it if you like to move around. Prob not a good idea to use a non relax bike, as you'll be going and stopping very often. When you get onto hunt mode and just want to look for new shit, you can just rest the phone on your thigh and check it so often, tapping the stops as you pass them w/o having to stop. Honestly my view of lures are like booster packs. For the most part, you get shitty cards, and not many for the price (here on avg is around 3-4 per lure), but they also have a higher rare chance that spawns near the last minute or so. It's not a rare rare, but rather an uncommon stage 2 that's slightly better than the avg. This means if you sit in a lure stop that covers 3+ lures, you're getting nearly 1 p/m by not moving, which an increased chance at s2+ showing up.
Ofc this is my experience, but I've only found "rarer" pokemon near lured stops that ended shortly after the capture. Today it was a golbat, hitmonchan, tentacurel, jolteon, pinsir, and a few others. I haven't really seen them outside a lured area besides pidggeot.

And I've been cycling a bit on my road bike with my phone on a bike mount, it's decent as you can catch things and trigger pokestops without needing to stop. As long as you're careful and keep one eye on what's going on on the road in front of you, obviously.
Only issue issue is that the eggs are very temperamental. Sometimes it just doesn't count km at all, I've gone on several 10km+ rides and it's only counted like 2, despite me going quite slowly on purpose, so it doesn't trigger the cutoff.

Someone mentioned it tracks the pedometer aspect of the phone, which means, you need it to be bobbing. This was my thigh reference, but pockets work too. Since I use power saving, you need to turn the phone downwards to activate it, which means I hold it with 1 hand, and rest it upside down on my thigh when going to the next location, only checking if I get a buzz or near the next stop to grab it. This both saves power, and makes the phone get the gyros bobbing.
It's also why I said it's probably more preferable to get a bike you can ride while relaxing, like a cruiser. Comfy, slow, and stable for pokecrusing.
