I'm trying to come up with a on-cart team to use as a more serious team to challenge people, but I have no real team building experience.
I was thinking of using Ferrothorn with either Clefable or Sylveon as cleric support and a life orb Weavile in there somewhere, as it's my favorite Pokemon. Other than that, I don't know. Any suggestions?

Fairy and Steel are excellent defensive types and they work well with Dragon, Water and Ghost-type Pokemon. You may want to use a Special-attacking Water-type as a wall, a physical Dragon, and of course something like Gengar. Weavile is as good as it gets.

WoW Rotom washing machine for bulky water? Can you breed Rotom with Ditto? Also, Weakness Policy Dragonite? How much do IVs matter compared to natures?
I got a bunch of Mesprits over GTS, just checked their IVs, and am trying to pick one to use.
I'll replace it whenever the next game I can soft reset for a really good one comes out, but for now I'd at least like a decent one.

To me, they matter equally. If the nature is wrong, it's shit. If the IVs are bad, it's also shit. You need both to be good in order to have something competitively viable.

I never know what to do in those situations with kids spamming requests.
With trades I just continually offer a jinx and when they want to battle I use a really cheap clefable, 3x minimize + 4x calm mind.
