The thing is, people are foolishly expecting something on par with the real games, but you can pull your phone out and battle people whenever.
It will be absolutely nothing like that, and it'll play like trash, especially with all the grinding you need to do to evolve
That first trailer really elevated peoples' expectations for this game to the point where it'll be disappointing no matter what. I know guys who are more pumped for Go than the main series games, and I'm really not looking forward to watching their hearts break.

Literally nobody is expecting this. It uses pokemon as an excuse to get people outside and visit places they might not go out of there way to anyway, just like geocaches or something. It's a novelty not a full fledged game, dumbass.

People also expect a large variety of pokemon. Even if it's gen one chances are a lot of people will get not even a fifth of that. Not everyone lives in Japan or New York, and honestly I can't see someone playing it for more than maybe two weeks

The game was literally designed to be "played" such as that a fucking button that flashes different colors can be apparently used to essentialy operate the game without even looking at the phone screen.
That gave me a pretty solid idea of what this would be like.
Boy did people out there get hyped up for nothing.
I actually happen to go to NYC frequently, so I'll fuck around with it when it comes out and see if its any fun for what it is, but I don't expect much.

Theyve said on the record some people will have to prioritize traveling in order capture every single one of them. It doesnt matter that alot of people cant travel to get them, you can trade with people in different regions who can. Just because you'd rather work doesn't mean the game has going to conform to your priorities... look at WoW players, no lifers get further.
I doubt they will release 600+ pokemon at launch, probably gen by gen to keep fresh content.
