All right, this is the new Pokemon gimmick for Gen VII.
Pokemon now ventures into the waters of more traditional JRPGs and now has different versions of the same creature.
They aren't new Pokemon, but simply pallet-swaps with a new typing and slightly modified moveset. For example, Ice-typed Charizard's level-up moves might be something like:

And there wouldn't be a limit necessarily to the amount of alt's any given Pokemon could have, some may have no alt's, but I think it would simply add a fun spin to the game, like if you needed an Ice-type, but your favorite Pokemon is Charizard, well here you go. A perfect addition to your team, or whatever.

I still can't think of a downside. It would be fucking great. Not only would it spice up the game, but you could do more with your bro, experiment with different teams, if let's say Blastoise had a Fire-type Delta.
Not to mention if you prefer the color pallet of it's alt, that would be great. And if not, no sweat, your originally-colored bro is still waiting for you to raise.
This would spice up the route Pokemon too. As you progress further into the game, you find rarer Deltas or whatever in addition to the Pokemon already on the routes. Possibilities are endless.

Like, what the fuck is this crap? This completely ruins the concept as the Deltas are now completely new creatures. That would cause to much 50/50 divide and/or static. With combinations like these, Game Freak could continue to put out games, and still be new and fresh (at least until you get that one guy that breeds everything with everything possible and puts them all in the PC and the PokeBank just to show them all off). As it currently stands, there's over 720 Pokemon. Out of all the ones that can breed that makes tens of thousands of combinations for hybrid Pokemon. The game would be massive!

This is actually close to what I have in the works. Bunch of retyped Pokemon game, where their type is altered due to environmental means, such as pollution or flood. Really mixed up the viability of Pokemon giving some poor shitmon a second chance.

I just have those sprites on my mobile. Each Pokemon sort of has a theme behind it too. The cubone there has the Midas touch going on, so it's lonely as everything it touches turns to gold. Have a psychic/grass skitty which is like a living bouquet. There's 4 variations, loving, friendship, sorrow, and celebration, all with different corresponding flowers on the tail. They are psychic as they affect the bearers emotion based on its bouquet type. I want the design changes to be subtle but meaningful, while also keeping the charm of the original Pokemon.
