You can work around it if you really want to use it. Just be mindful of the times when that point difference is going to matter. I use a 3IV Ferrothorn instead of my 6IV one for a similar reason.
Or use it as an excuse to get a Speed Boost/Baton Pass Venipede and/or a Sticky Web setter.
