I can't speak for playing as her, but as a partner she works solidly. Her defense is a little squishy, like she is in the main series (but it's not much different from Charmander's), but her special attack is good and her useful moves are sprinkled throughout, rather than not getting any at all. Quick Attack at 11 and Flamethrower at 24, and you're pretty much good to go for the most part.
I've seen comparisons say she's a weaker Charmander, but, well, that's why I liked her as a partner instead. Charmander's IQ set is more offensively-geared (stuff like Pierce Hurler and whatnot), and I like that stuff better in my hands rather than the AI's.

If you're going into it last it'll definitely feel kind of bare in some ways, since it was the first go at PMD and everything, but I still think it's a lot of fun, and there's plenty of dungeons to explore. Friend areas help the world feel a little more vibrant and populous, too.
IN sky, there's an item named fire veil for moltres that gives it a chance to survive fatal damage with 1 hp. If I had a bag full of them, would they stack?

Wooper and Mareep are my favorite unevolved pokemon in the series, I can't play gen 2 without them. Their swap items are good, too.
Wooper's a member of one of the best IQ groups, getting stuff like trap immunity, double hit normal attack, and map revealing. Mareep enjoys +5PP to everything through Multitalent, as well as some other nice skills. There's no other team I'd rather use. Pick the topmost Sky option, the lowermost one doesn't seem to work right. Check the Personality Quiz section or whatever it's called. You'll have to choose who you want each quiz result to give you, so you can just make it all one pokemon if you want.

The gameplay is similar, but except some postgame stuff it's easier. Also the formula is different. If you know about Shiren 3, that's how it's structured. Basically there are many dungeon instead of a main one that you need to complete. You can also take specific missions in these dungeons.
In the postgame you unlock some level 1 dungeon that work like a Shiren or a classic roguelike, but they have no plot.

If you're playing Rescue Team, no. Power Bands do raise your attack stat, but they're ubiquitous. Even EoS doesn't have an Exclusive Item equivalent just for Cubone, but the Brown Silk item raises Attack by 10 and Defense by 7, which applies for all Ground types in the party.

Best you'll get is the Power Band really. I guess a Munch Belt too, but that drains your hunger. Marowak's swap item eliminates Grass weakness, making those moves HEAL you. It works for Cubone as well. lower tier.
If you can get ahold of some Brown Silkwhich is on 10f of zero isle north, needs a key, more a postgame itemjust having it around boosts your attack
