Once again in my blind Sacred Gold run, one of my Pokemon saves the run after their death.
Lyra's Ninetales rekt half my team, leaving me with only Glaceon, Weepinbell, and Magnemite (i.e., blackout imminent). It was souped up on +2 all stats from Ominous Wind in addition to being strong in the first place, so when I sent out my Glaceon, it was to say good bye... except, as it turns out, my Potion stalling tactics + Spiritomb's Pressure depleted all of Flamethrower and Ominous Wind's PP! So, once again, I stumbled my way to an empty victory, Pidgeotto being the heaviest loss here...
Obviously, I don't expect to beat this game, but I'm surprised I'm still alive considering I've pulled this stuff off too many times already, this early in the game.

I checked out Chucks gym while I was there, it seemed over leveled compared to what I'd just dealt with as well, figured I was supposed to do Jasmine first. In fairness I haven't played a Gen 2 game in about 5 years.
In contrast though, the rival battle right before entering Jasmine's gym is all ~32 leveled, so I assumed it was safe. If it weren't for Leg Day getting OHKO by T Bolt I probably wouldn't have lost anyone.

I went with sacred gold. I have a tendency to way overlevel for falkner (I really wanted thunder fang raticate - which outsped OHKO'd the entire gym lol) but oh well, it's just less grinding to do for bugsy.
Dublin died catching magnemite in his first ever battle. Maybe if he was smarter and hadn't hit himself in confusion he could've lived a pleasant life in the box.

I'm playing a Sacred Gold run with Dupes Clause and I'm about to battle Claire, and then I go to the Dragon's Den. In the Dragon's Den, the catchable pokemon are Magikarp, Dratini, and their respective evolutions. I currently have a Magikarp in my box, therefore activating the dupes clause if I encounter a Magikarp or a Gyarados.
So, is roaming the Dragon's Den until I encounter a Dratini to catch exploiting a loophole in the dupes clause? Should I just catch the Magikarp that I'll most likely encounter multiple times before I see a Dratini?

For Kalos, there's NeoXY and EternalX/WiltingY. Neo sucks ass, don't play it. Don't even consider it. Just go for Eternal/Wilting.

For the Hoenn Remakes, there's Rutile Ruby/Star Sapphire. They are balanced around the EXP share and the whole "competitive" aspect of Pokemon, so you'll be obtaining competitive items after the 2nd gym and you will see legendaries in trainer teams after the 3rd badge. Also enemies will be around level 100 by the time you face the second Team Boss Battle. They have some questionable choices like the legendary usage and some pokemon received some odd type changes (such as ground/fighting cubone, dragon/steel axew, etc, but nowhere near as bad as Neo's type changes)
Then there's Dray's Rising Ruby/Sinking Sapphire. it's the typical "all pokemon increased difficulty hack" but it's probably his least ambitious one to date. Besides the usual buffs to shitmons to make them viable, there are no dialogue changes, no title screen changes, no TM changes. Everything besides some item obtains, stats, movepool and trainer roster is the same. It's still a good ROMhack if you're looking for a challenge but not as intense as Rutile/Star
There's also a mix ROMhack of the two called Meme Sapphire floating around here. It takes the base of Rutile/Star romhack but adds more of Dray's additions as well such as the buff to shitmons and whatnot.
