As it stands there's DBenben as the closest thing to Trevenant, so she'd likely be a good start. Only two weakness and a fuckton of resists in both games. However I'm worried about some of her stats not making the cut andI don't like Benben.

She didn't try to blow up the barrier because she was a sore loser, but because she was scared out of her wits. She was trying to run away and actively distance herself from all that happened, and then all of a sudden Reimu shows up and pretty much "you're not leaving, bitch, you're coming with me". Sumi then pretty much lost it and went full on "if i'm going to die, then i'm taking the barrier down with me"
Funnily enough, if Reimu hadn't been an idiot and actually explained WHY she wanted Sumireko to come with her, then they could have avoided the barrier almost getting destroyed. But I guess that doesn't make for good drama.

So, serious talk. VoltTurn is absurdly widespread in TPDP and I'm not sure why I don't see it mentioned more in these threads. Both Volt Switch and U-Turn are absurdly potent in almost all Pokemon metas (even VGC Doubles to an extent) and are balanced by their limited distribution. Typically, only Flying-types and Bug-types get significant access to U-turn, with a smattering of Electric-types getting access to Volt Switch. None of these three types are particularly dominating.
Even so, when U-turn was first introduced to Pokemon in Gen IV it was a massive buff to the long-suffering Bug-types for its absurd momentum-granting capabilities, and made stuff like Scizor far harder to stop than they had any right to be. Fast-forward two gens, Volt Switch has been introduced and and some shitter called Landorus-T is sitting at the top of OU - 83% of all Landorus-T sets in OU used U-turn in January.
In TPDP, that sense of balance is thrown out the window. By my counts pre-expansion, literally over half of all puppets have access to either Lightning Speed or Changeling - 123/236 styles have one or both (~52%).
And then TPDP gave it to half of the goddamn puppetdex. And changed the typing for U-turn to Dark, a typing which isn't resisted by nearly half of the entire type chart, and can be buffed by weather.
I don't think I've seen this mentioned in these threads, which is a shame, because it's about as much of a gamechanger as - say - giving Defog or Rapid Spin to half of the Pokedex (which TPDP also did). If Smogon had to adapt to that half suddenly gaining the ability to blow away all hazards and do drive-by shootings, I'm pretty sure the entire tiering system would be temporarily scrapped until the dust settled.
And this is all pre-expansion. I'm not accounting for all the new puppets, or the new Warp-type Rapid Spin. Now when will Hemo give everything Geomancy?

If you're into rabbitsyou sick fuckthen Udonge and Gyokuto both can put in some serious work. GyokutoS in particular gets very fast, has a hilariously dumb amount of coverage, and gets shit like Strategist Purple Lightning/Shake Gear (hello 150 BP Steel move with no downsides).
GengetsuS is also an even faster and harder-hitting puppet if you want something even more cute and don't mind spending the rest of your life mortified of priority moves and light breezes. She gets way better in the expansion too, even if the last thing she needed was more ways to die instantly with STAB Volt Tackle while massacring everything in sight.

The letter grades are essentially the puppet's IVs. Once you collect enough puppets then you can begin reincarnating puppets (essentially rerolling their IVs and nature from level 1) at the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It's not important 'till post game though, so keep sealing away!

Mostly becomes something to take into account. Unlike spin which is only relevant when hazards are used (and given how faster the game is, it pretty much only means both teams will have about 2 puppets with three moves).
Switch moves on the other hand can at best be stopped by earth types, and only half of them, so everyone takes the possibility of them existing into account (fog isn't that frequent of weather, by the way) and I guess you just get used to it.
The interesting part of giving everyone spin is that you aren't forced to run some mons, which funnily enough makes hazards less frequent since there isn't a single big user in the enemy team you're free to knock out then set up sneaky irons freely. The problem is that while spin is a defensive and reactive strategy, switches are an offensive always viable one. Doesn't help their biggest counter are things like traps too, but it should also be noted out version of pursuit is significantly better and nicely distributed too.
I dunno what to say, really something harmful I had never taken into account since there's pretty much no punishment for those moves which I've hated since their introduction, as well as buffing the uglier mon instead of Scyther. But might be the case of if everyone can do it, then it's not as bad.Also flying was a fucking sick type, switch into earthquakes, almost always has a great secondary typing and SE many important threats.

Weather-inducing abilities are like how they are in Gen 6, and the weathers are generally not as good as they are in Pokemon to begin with (Fog is the only real standout; Aurora is boosting arguably the worst attacking type in the game, Sandstorm lacks the massive amount of things that made it good in Pokemon like Tyranitar existing and a good suite of great Pokemon to take advantage of it, and the others make Pokemon's Hail look good in comparison).
Going all-in on weather is doable if you run RenkoS, but you're using a team slot up on a BST 375 to do so. Doing so means you can much more easily get away with using MaribelP though.

Pretty damn good, actually.
Defense Rumia is a tanky Dark-type pivot with STAB Changeling and Healing Power. Power Tokiko arguably outclasses her pre-SoD outside of Rumia's stronger Changeling, but if you're playing with the expansion she's an alternative to the bird that resists Warp instead of being weak to it.
Power Rumia is the hardest-hitting spread attacker in the entire game if she goes for Brutality (which tanks her accuracy), but apart from a slightly above-average Speed her other stats are unsalvageable. Either ditch Brutality and use a Choice Scarf to make her a bit faster, or give her Binoculars to patch up the accuracy issues and use her as a tactical nuke. Dark/Fire is also really good for offensive STAB in TPDP, so there's that.
Extra Rumia is an odd Dark/Warp-type that's terrifying in Fog due to her high focus attack and average Speed combined with good STABs and Fog Traveler, but outside of Fog is sadly a dime-a-dozen bulky, slowish focus attacker with high spread defense - but is hampered by unusably bad Defense, even with investment. Outside of dedicated fog teams she's outclassed, especially since a ton of extra styles fill the same niche way better.
All her styles are completely viable, but RumiaP shines a bit more by being less niche than the others.

I think that puppets should maintain their weaknesses and ressitances from tpdp, so grass puppets are weak to steel moves. same way around, for pokemon, so water pokemons aren't weak to miasama.

Normal weather. Maybe the sky is clear but it's windy. Maybe the sun is shining pretty harshly (but not boosting Fire because this isn't Pokemon). Maybe it's raining (and not boosting water). Maybe it's a thunderstorm (ditto). Maybe even it's hail, except puppets don't take damage from hail because puppets are cool like that.
It's not the complete absence of weather at all, a sandstorm, an aurora lighting up the sky, a sandstorm, or a sunshower. It's anything other than those.

Band is still viable. What you want to check is whether he's worth the mega slot in your team or not, usually a regular one who keeps whittling down the enemy team with banded U-turns/bullet punches is more than enough to get the job done and I'd save the mega for soemthing like Megasaur, but that's personal preference.
I don't really like Scizor because Scyther is so much cooler but it had to be made worse.

Actually, I realized I never caught a good Landorus in my copy of AS so I decided to go do that.
It took me over an hour just to PREPARE (catching an Impish Ralts, breeding it until it had Synchronise, getting a Swellow with a speed 1 point below a perfect speed IV level 50 Landorus, stocking up on Repeat Balls)
Then I realized the odds of getting a good Landorus are astronomically small (1/1024 to get pentaflawless, then another 1/6 for the pentaflawless to NOT include SpATK (although a 4 IV could still be keepable), and then a 1/2 chance for the Synchronize to even work) and that
Then I also realized in the time it took for me to PREPARE to SR like no tomorrow I could have reincarnated a puppet to 5 or 6 perfect IVs, EV trained it, and leveled the thing to 70 to unlock the full moveset and have the thing completely ready for competitive puppet battles. And five puppets total would need a push to level 100 for their last move.
Thus concludes my return to playing Pokemon. Off to go reincarnate and level up this Kasen.
