Hey guys, I've done a research for possible Tobias team in Kalos League based on his two known team members. So let's start this shit.
1. No major plot (box and some of event-only) legends, which removes Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Uxie, Melsprit, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Shaymin, Manaphy, Arceus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Meloetta, Genesect, Victini, Regigigas, Volcanion, Diancie, Hoopa. This leaves us with 23 mons.
2. One mon from each family rule removes Latias and Cresselia from the list. 21 mons remaining.
3. Let's also remove regis, cause they were aces of Brandon and played a major role in some of AG/DP plotlines.
4. If we consider Phione's semi-legendary status (low BST and obtaining from breeding) lead us to one mon less in the list.
5. This leads us to conclusion that 15 mons are competing for 4 places BUT many of them are related, so:

They said that Ash rooting for Serena over Millefeui was "progress on his side" because way back in DP he choose to root for Dawn and Zoey. At most, that's a sign he "could" like Ash not that he does as they said.
The fact that you all are clinging to something like this as a hint from Ash is pretty sad and shows just how one-sided it is. You folks put an enormous amount of weight on things that "could be" signs from Ash.
