It's actually interesting to compare the RNG in PTCG and something like MTG.
Pokemon has a bit more random exectution (via coin flips), but balances it out with a lot more card draws. In MTG, each card draw is very expensive in terms of resources. So, in MTG, if you don't have a card you need, it can be very difficult to get that card from your deck.

You only need about 6-8 Lightning, or 6 Lightning, 2 Flash, standard trainers with Head Ringers, Xerosic, TFG, Hammers, and Rough Seas. You'll need Ultra Balls, Repeat Balls, and Level Balls.
As for Tools for Manectric, it's either Muscle Band for bonus 20, or Fighting Fury Belt for bonus HP; 210 HP Manectric plus Flash Energy can be hard to handle.

I hate to disappoint you but they don't smell the same. WOTC doesn't do Pokemon TCG anymore, TPCI does, and they use a different chemical to seal packs. So they smell different. Whoever, it's worth noting that because WOTC still does MtG, Magic packs smell a lot like old Pokemon packs because they still use that chemical.

All supporters have some minimal value, special energies too. As for pokemons, any that does something to stop EX, and evolutionary lines of strong pokemons(dragons usually are pretty good).
