No items add to the damage. Choice Scarf just makes it faster, so nothing can damage it before it gets to use Final Gambit.

The thing is already ridiculously fast. Faster than all but the fastest Scarfed pokemon.
When I used Accelgor I ran Bug Buzz/Focus Blast/Final Gambit/Yawn or Spikes. Yawn is gimmicky but can force a switch or set them up for a revenge kill so they have to switch anyway. When they switch you can use Final Gambit and take out something potentially troublesome.
Focus Blast hits what Bug Buzz doesn't, so Accelgor can revenge kill. You can substitute Spikes for any move.

I think more of it is that they just stopped playing Pokémon. That's certainly what happened with the Gen V crowd and a lot of the 5.5 crowd that were in the group I was in for a bit, a lot of them stopped playing too.

Gamefreak artificially makes half the legendaries scarce with events and then doesn't release them out of Japan. They allow you to make illegal requests on GTS and clog the trading up with bullshit. They make the IV system a bunch of dice rolls without any skill and then expect a game of competitive battles to be balanced.
Injecting is the patch to Gamefreak's shitty methods.

If you use a shitty hack or a hilarious choice scarf no guard sheer cold machamp and try to battle, the error will be "there was a problem with one of the pokemon. The battle will now end" when it tries to load the battle box or party before you can select which ones go into battle.
