I'm thinking it's Guild with the Evade Arts or Adept with something, but I'm not sure. I definitely don't like that you have to do the follow up run after an evade and you can cancel any of the 3 follow up hits with a recital.

Yeah, all the time. The only times when I do not iniate the attacks are when the monster is too far away or I know that a second attack is coming soon. Getting three rapid attacks to the monster's head is a good way to build up for a KO.

As far as low rank goes you could probably get away with the set the entire time, though I suppose Ceanataur and Rathalos armors aren't bad either after a few gems, depending on what you're looking for. Worst case you could just replace some Buja parts with Rath ones that provide equal or better attack after gems.
