I had problems with TS4 and the "time warp" bug months ago, causing me to stop playing. This is the bug where the clock keeps moving forward, even if you pause it, but the characters just stand there and won't perform any action. You have to CTRL-ALT-DEL out of it.
Anyway, I started playing and had the same bug come up. At 5am game-time, in 'Open' restaurants, it would time-warp. Every single time.
I spent 3 hours trouble shooting and found the culprit - Master Commander's Population module. I am guessing the game generates Sims at 5am, and something with how MC's Population module interacts with that causes a hang.

Oh, and this only happens on hugely populated lots where there is 10+ NPCs. Like the game is creating new NPCs to deal with the increased demand.

They're making a game like the Sims and they're making it in Unreal Engine, So far they've got free-form lot sizes and open world, and plan on adding terraforming. I also suggested it them that character creation have sliders for gender, age, body type and height, the age slider would also allow for linear aging instead of separate life states
So I'm trying (emphasis on trying) to introduce functional newspapers back into the game (nothing fancy, just trying to add random popup messages to the newspaper machine world objects - pic related).
Ideally the mod will have the following options:
>Read Newspaper (SimCity Chronicle or National Simquirer - each newspaper has different types of headlines, either politics/sports/current events, or paranormal/celebrity stuff)
>Find a Job (Sim opens up their phone and the job menu pops up)
>Read Obituaries (identical to the computer interaction, available if Sad)
But fuck me if it isn't ridiculously hard to implement. No matter what I do, my Sims can't interact with the object at all. It's driving me insane.

They care. Just not as much as they did for previous games - the ones that were good enough to have a following. I mean, just look how fast this General dies. The game has hardly any following. They'll so it eventually, but they are in no rush. They might want another few months for a few more packs.
It's not like they're getting paid or anything. If the demand isn't there, they will focus their efforts on better games.
I am not poor anymore so I actually buy them. But I stole 1, 2, and 3 and hundreds of other games when the money wasn't there.
For the people dying for Dine Out, let me tell you - from a veteran of every sims-style game from Play to Medieval to Stories to the 1/2/3/4 - It's really just filler. Owning a restaurant is basically a click-factory. You just walk around clicking "Welcome" "Check on table" "Recommend Dish" and "Praise". The construction elements are the same as always, and the diner-specific customization like Menus is really not as interesting as it sounds. There is no point in even reading the names. You assign them by price. There is no smart calculations done based on theme or anything. All that matters is price and difficulty rating (1 to 5).
Visiting restaurants feels very redundant. Like I've done it hundreds of times in other Sims games. Nothing special.
I've parsed the tuning at length, as a modder, and the mechanics behind the restaurants are ridiculously amateur. For example, the star rating of customers is based on invisible happiness buffs. When you welcome them (+1 Happy), when the deco is Beautiful (+3 Happy), if the Hostess is in a bad mood when checking in a customer (+1 Angry), if the live music is good (+2 Happy) ... the entire star-rating they give your restaurant is derived from simple Happiness buffs. The same as your character gets from listening to music, good decorations, or positive socials. It is not nearly as complex as they make it seem.
And that sums up the entire pack - not nearly as complex as they make it seem. You're not missing anything just because it's not cracked. You can definitely wait and not buy it.

Oh, and for those excited about building a restaurant, let me shatter those dreams - The only way you'll get a 5 star rating is to put the hostess station and cookers in the middle of a circle of tables. This is to minimize the travel time to the tables, and is especially important for the hostess.
I mean, feel free to put the cookers in their own room in the back the hostess station by the front door 30-steps away from the tables, but you'll never hit a consistent 5-star rating like that.
You will also need to do 2 socials with every single guest for 5 stars. Also, socials are worth 25 perk points each and required to buy perks. And perks are absolutely necessary or you will never, ever turn a profit since there are 6 that increase revenue. And keeping the tables and hostess station clustered makes for less travel time for yourself since you'll be constantly on the move doing socials.
if you design a restaurant just to be pretty and not efficient, that's up to you. But don't be surprised when you can't break 3 stars.

Yeah, k, as a modder, this really isn't a meme. When Dine Out came out, the first mod I made was for "Welcome" and "Check on Table" and "Recommend Dish" to all be top priority so I wouldn't have to be a click-slave, and a week later, a patch broke it. The next week, my mod that locks employee satisfaction to "Very Satisfied" so I didn't have to keep sucking their dicks to keep them in a good mood - that broke, too.
When a game is patching every week (some bigger patches than others), mods are constantly breaking. And you're depending on independent modders to keep them up to date. These aren't software companies. And I've had at least 10 normal, non-scripting mods cause game breaking bugs and corrupted saves. This absolutely happens.
It's not hard to learn how to mod. Most mods are only 1 or 2 resources, which can easily be compared to the latest patch when it comes out to see if anything has changed. You just export them in Sims 4 Studio and use DiffCompare or some other online tool to compare the mod XML and the game XML. It'll save you from destroying a 200+hour game save.

This is my waffle house that uses that same concept. The tables in the shot are the only ones in the restaurant. I've never filled them up so no need for more. The hostess never has to walk more than 5 paces away from the stand so there's just about zero wait time, and the 3 servers spend 90% of the time watching TV in the back room. That's how many sat down. On any given day, I have 30-40 people walk through my diner. I never get more than 14 or so seated. It's not that they get frustrated with the wait and leave. They just want to fuck around talking to everyone and never make it to the hostess station. They will have a "3" over their head showing they're active customers, but they never go to the hostess to be seated. Because they have zero focus.
This all stems from the terrible autonomy in Sims 4. They do the stupidest shit when left to their own devices. Modders have yet to identify how to make 1 autonomous task take priority over another every time because it's so messed up.

I've got a secret society that dresses in robes and hangs out in the ruins and a superhero who only wears his costume during club gatherings and beats up gangsters at a seedy nightclub.
Also useful for keeping track of certain Sims. I've got one that has every member of my Sim's extended family so they can maintain relationships easily, and another that keeps track of all the disguised aliens the game generates.

Earlier today it occured to me that Get Together was an expansion. Expansion Pack. Not Game Pack, or Stuff Pack. It was meant to be a full blown Expansion Pack like World Adventures, Generations, Seasoons, and Pets. .... and it's just fucking clubs. Completely useless. That should have been a free patch into the game because it added pretty much nothing at all.
Anyway, what made me mad, was that it took the slot of a true expansion pack. EA follows this pattern - Expansion, Stuff, Stuff, Game, Stuff, Stuff, (rinse and repeat) ... we have Backyard Stuff coming then another Expansion pack right after it. But the point is, that precious expansion pack slot was wasted on Get Together. God that peeves me off.

The base game is really lacking in both tats and hair dye styles. I still miss how you could color different parts of the hair in 3. I can't believe how they thought it was a good idea making the meshes on the few hairstyles that support different colors tied to specific hair colors.

I like the style of the sims in TS4. The clay hairs are cute.
The only game where I go for shiny anime sims is TS3 because most of the base game sims are ugly as fuck. High poly hairs don't look so out of place from the aesthetics either, as long as they aren't too shiny. Always go for base game style clothes though, since shitty 'realistic' textures on flat, poorly made meshes are the worst.

I you make a sim with realistic proportions, it is not as aesthetically appealing. And I don't mean in a sexual sense. I mean it just doesn't fit the cartoony Sims 4 style. It is okay to have titty-monsters in The Sims 4 because it matches, like clay hair (as they were talking about earlier).

For MC Appearance, it's like this for an adult (what's in the picture):

.... this is pretty realistic, though still very flattering. The breasts are a super-bra'd D, the arms/legs are a little wider instead of sticks, the butt is flatter, the frame is a tad larger than YA, she is fit and slim but still within realistic bounds for a 40 year old if they take care of themselves, etc
You will immediately notice that it looks really bad once you start doing outfits. The breasts grow and shrink. They look like GGG in some outfits, and B in others. Naked, they're more like C. In a normal well-fitting shirt (60% of CAS), they're D. And the ass varies wildly depending on the type of pants, and especially skirts and dresses.
Point being, there is nothing wrong with not sticking to the cartoon vibe and making larger chests and asses. It seems like it was just meant to be, with TS4 art style.

I wonder how big the kid/preteen market for Sims still is. Since they barely ever figure out all the workings of the game and just fuck around with cheats and killing Sims, kids probably wouldn't notice a lot of the things that are missing from TS4.
When I was younger it was the most popular video game in my class, I remember everyone would avoid paying for it by buying a later expansion then borrowing the other discs off of friends. But does it still have a casual fanbase or is basically everyone into it now the kind of person to do challenges and mod their games?

It's the reason why TS3 runs poorly even on fairly strong rigs; nraas story progression can run every single npc's daily life in the entire neighborhood, including relationships, conflicts, sims buying cars and moving to new houses, parties, and so on, with staple personalities (like the town bully or magnate) that interact with one another.
And rather than just calculate it separately, nraas story progression pushes the npcs to the correct location. So when two sims are flirting with each other, they really took time out of their career schedule to travel to the beach and interact, and depending on how that interaction went (which, of course, the player can interfere with), determines how the relationship goes.
It's really beefy, but it's also very taxing on the CPU (especially in conjunction with other very-script-intensive mods, such as Oniki's kinky mod), though I find that relatively modern processors don't have much trouble if story progression is just set to a dozen or so sims, rather than hundreds.

It actually runs it well and "realistic." It pushes sims to get careers & do hobbies that match up with their LTW and traits. They actually procreate and you can set ancestral homes so you can make Landgrabb, Alto, Goth etc. families, name, and household actually last.
Then there's all the extra modules that add neighborhood ____ (tart, villain, "bike") etc., things that make them buy cars and pay child support etc. Once you play with the mod & see other sims do interesting things, it's hard to play without it.

It's not BETTER than 3, but it has some features that 3 just doesn't. Camping and dining out at a restaurant just aren't in 3 at all, but are in 4, for example. But on the flip side, no pets, no toddlers, no weather, no magic, no celebrities, no time travel, no tropical resort towns.

I think a lot of people on here made the switch and love the style of TS4 and how well it runs, but we do all agree that the amount of content is still shit. A few more patches, good game packs, and maybe at least 2 good expansions and it'll be better than 3 (content wise)

God, you computer people are so stuck in your ways. Windows 10 is fine. If you're used to 7, you will need some tweaks to make the UI similar. There is nothing wrong with Win 10. My laptop has WIn10, that's fine. I have 2 desktops in the house that use Win7 and always will. Win10 is not good enough to upgrade to, but it is not nearly bad enough to actually downgrade. There are a million reason to stick to Win10 - and that's just the updated driver database. The only reason you'd downgrade is if you're a big baby that can man-up and adjust to a new interface.
In relation to the Sims 4, I own all the buyable content and run it on Windows 10 x64 and it runs flawlessly. The only game-stopping bug I've ever encountered was caused by MC Commander.
