I used RW shout and had none of that other crap or a good medica and managed it. I did hit and run for 3 bars though, he made it easy with excalipoor so I took advantage. Just blasted him with SBs after a banishing strike when he entered retaliate phase. Luckily he spread out his damage for the first bit so his last bit of health I had 3 SBs charging and he only killed one person which let one of the other two take him out. I don't think he counters SBs, or at least i got super fucking lucky and he didnt that run

Assuming it's a Wind/Lightning attack, it'll hit their Lightning weakness. Multi-element attacks always hit the element that the target is weakest to.

The passive ability Doublehand increases your equipments atk by +50% as long as one of your hands are empty. Essentially you 2hand your weapon. Garland has it innately and Bartz rewards it for his TM. I'm not sure if anyone else has it innately.

You can get friend points as your preferred gift from friends (default gift is gold, so you need to change it).
Wait for events. Next event will give us 50 FP per dungeon run (using friend characters).
Save your points for this upcoming event, we will get increased summon rates on cactuars and gil things.

First thing you should be spending your early lapis on is maxing out your friends list and then increasing your inventory slots after that, friend points won't be a problem. This is the main reason that people reroll, so that they can spend their lapis on the other important stuff instead of rolling for units
The monthly login rewards are different every month, so the amount of lapis you get is also different every month. This month is really nice.
You can only get 50 per day consistently. That 100 daily giveaway ends in like a week.
After that you should hoard all of your lapis. I wouldn't even trade it in for the summoning tickets either unless you'll have a good chunk left over. Also you should never pull unless there is a rate up for unit(s) that you need or want

I believe we get up to 975 lapis per week (50x7 + 125 + summon ticket).
It's just like RK's relics: Save your lapis and buy the summon ticket bundle (11 tickets for the price of 10) when you feel like summoning shit (for example, events with increased summon rates, like >>147369014). There is also special packages like pic related, so it is always better to save your lapis (except for material inventory upgrades, you will probably want at least 80 slots for now).
We don't know if we will get lots of lapis from events like we get in RK (probably not), that is why everyone is recommending new players to reroll/restart their accounts if they get shit summons like Shadow and low tier donut steels (at least until July 17, last day to claim the 10 free summon tickets and extra lapis gifts).

Who are generally considered to be good units? I've been using Edgar for autobowgun spam and Kain for single target damage. I have Sabin and Shantoto for filler, basically, and Anastasis for healing. Everyone except Kain is 3 stars, but I have all the materials to awaken everyone (except Anastasis who can't awaken). Just need to level them.

CoD - amazing phy dps that resists all elements
Bartz - CoD without the resists
Vaan - Full Break - futureproof ability
Zidane is desired for his TM, it's one of the best in the game
Edgar is a solid 4* unit, Kain is alright when his 5* comes out, Shantotto has a good TM and can fill your mage role, you'll ditch Anastasis the second you get Fina from the second island
When does Phase 5 end? I wanna know how much time I have left to gather as much Mith as I can so I can be disappointed.

How far are you in the game?
It's not hard to progress in EB, specially because we can do EXP vortex dungeons everyday. The main "RNG-heavy" parts of EB are unit summoning and trust mastery, and I'm fairly sure very few people actually got 10 Bartz from the 10 free tickets.

Only generics as far as I know. Well, except metal cactuars, they technically are FF units.
Some of them are useful as placeholders (very easy to awaken too, easy way to get achievement rewards), while others have good trust masteries.

Leo is actually a better tank for the current content than Cecil is at this point in time. Cecil will eventually eclipse him when he gets his 6*
Kuja+Shantotto is probably second to Exdeath in global just like Leo is second to Cecil.

I'm leaning towards Shadow, as he only has the SSB going for him, but his SSB -is- a fucking monster with PP+AC. I'd lose damage output but gain an uber debuff against tougher bosses. What do?

Nothing stops you from cycling characters though, not every situation needs a specific party.True suffering is constantly trying to get a relic for a character and always failing and eventually getting enough relics where you pretty much have to move them out of your party for the time being, but still pray for upcoming events and getting something for them.The next FFVIII event is going to make me cry because of my stupid luck with phase 4
