All you really need is homing L for standards, though I'm at level 12 for my standard CFA so your experience is different. As for the combo part I don't think so, if there is it isn't easy to see. You should have some slots though that's the nice thing about light parts.

I really do want to know why the hate, though. I dropped by /simg/ once to ask how alive PvP was (because you know, fighter combat) and they threw a shitfit. I can't for the life of me understand why.
So about a week ago I found a PS2 laying around in my garage that my old man had put aside 2 years ago and forgot to tell me about, Immediately got out the 3 AC games on it and I have to say, time had really distorted some of the praise I had for that game.
I think the worst part was AC5's attempt at characters, It was the most godawful cringey trash. For whatever reason, AC5 has alot more of that dirty nip pacifist drivel that honestly felt like a massive cockblock through the whole thing. AC4 and 0 had the characters down perfectly, Soldiers, who fly and face death, nothing more needed. The Flight models felt tighter in AC5 than 4 but I didnt notice much of a difference between 5 and 0's. Did anyone else notice the analog sensitivity on AC5 was really fucking weird? Like Id have to press down really fucking hard, I thought it was from using an OG PS2 controller from 2005 but when I got to 0 it didnt have that issue.
I liked the unlock system for planes in AC5 than the others, progression and mastering a plane felt nice but the games campaign length really isnt suited for it. Really a shame. I was also surprised that cockpit view was extremely limited, just a static panel model and you couldnt even look into the meat of it, it would cut off right at the top.
Why is AC5 so widely praised for its story? It was so obtuse and awful, the links to the Belkan war were really cool but the disgusting character padding and dialogue was just too much to take any of that seriously.

The flight sim stance towards AC fans is for the most part snobbish and comes in part from (in my honest opinion completely warranted) elitism from people that have been playing combat flight sims online since the 80s, in part because the worst part of the fanbase tended (and still does at least to some extent) to use lore related handles online and being cancerous retards, which in turns got flight simmers to play the games (and some of them absolutely didn't like them one bit because they aren't the target audience at all I suppose).
And this doesn't have anything with /simg/ itself. /simg/'s attitude towards AC players was snobbish at the very beginning, much like most of the flight simming community, until a couple ACfags went in butthurt mode after someone criticized the game's bad parts (and also praised what he thought were the good aspects) and completely shat up that thread, and after that they started shitting up other threads on purpose.

I was just throwing out my 2 cents after not having touched the games in so long.
On another note I noticed some really fucking weird AI behavior, especially on larger aircraft like the Enemy AWACs, Refuelers and such, Theyd just start maneuvering like fighters and fly through the ground lol
The first 3-5 times I fought Pixy on the last mission were horrible, the AI would outright avoid any altitude above 2.4km apparently and would just turn away from me no matter what(This is on the head on sequence, I had to start the mission from the Avalon Dam strike from the beginning to fix it)
Would you guys recommend a PS3 for infinity? Its been a long time since its release, is it alright? I always only ever heard people say its the absolute devil or praise its shit like it was a holy second coming. Im a bit hesitant to shell out for a PS3 since I got a 360 a long time ago for AC 6 and Armored Core FA, but it wouldnt take a long amount of my time to grab and theyre cheap, alongside some other interesting games

It was unbelievably cancerous, not even the admins could bear it anymore, one of our old tripfags said that they turned on to IRC and other IMs (and also invited a few of the decent posters there) and basically started to consider ACS as a chore in a matter of not even 2 years.

Yeah the head-on sequence seems to get bugged every now and then.
As for infinity, no clue I don't play it anymore, the fuel stuff was just too annoying and it's not that great after a while. Just here for the PS2 and PSX games.
It's not Assault Horizon at least, so they fixed that part.
AC6 is pretty goodthough few planes and fewer but longer missions compared to the PS2 gamesif you ignore the annoying girl.

I didnt mind the story in AC 6, the part where the former stovie military doods at the end said themselves, if they had the choice to have not started the war, they still would have gone through with it really resonated. I thought it was a decent war story, and thankfully it removed its cutscene characters from the game itself, which is something 5 really fucked up on.
The flying is without a doubt the best, but that said I havent played AC: I. Fewer planes wouldnt have been a problem if they didnt all fly so similarly, at least the early aircraft.I shekeled up for every alt skin DLC, a total of 150 dollars

There is a reason why I didn't buy into Battle of Moscoew despite the Folgore. No options menu still kills it for me even on the new PC, ontop of the lack of a good DCG.

Story was ok, I'm just saying that Angels shit was annoying because they kept repeating it as we all know.
On that note, I wouldn't mind having a story that tries the squadron stuff again. Not in the sense that AH or 5 tried, but still. Pilot accounts from the wars are usually interesting to read.
