The charging indicator may not come on if its super dead. I would leave it plugged in for a few hours just to give it a chance. Its supposed to blink orange when its too low to turn on and then steady orange when charging.
The battery might be shot from not being used if you've had it for a while.

EDF2017 Portable is the better of the two.
2017 (aka EDF 3) is ported from Xbox 360, performs better and has better ebemy designs.
