She gets it at a very specific time, seemingly to save Chloe along with bringing justice to Rachel and others, but does she lose it once that task has been completed at the end of the week?

if we look at at events in game, everything had started after seeing the *storm summoner, Max got an opportunity to save Chloe right in there and Rachel's most likely guided/protected them (spiritual doe in junkyard), then they pointed out these magical events may be connected with Rachel (Rachel's revenge)...so there's connection between these girls (since game was pointing it out to you) which was french hacks failed to explain. or they didn't want to make it clear that these magical events tied up to Rachel other than keep it ambiguous and let to player's imagination, otherwise they wouldn't their forced tragedy outcome come true.

I don't think it was intentional. If it was Rachel causing the storm, I think it was crated when she died from her anger and dislike towards the town combined with Chloe's "wish" to see it all destroyed.
Even if Rachel didn't want it to happen it was too late to stop things. So she gave Max the warning (along with the power) to try to make things better, which is why the ghost doe appears along with Max's first vision.

I actually managed to re-watch the Bae ending last night for the first time in months. The whole time I was thinking how the forced choice was bullshit, but overall I do like it (Now that I've had time to think about what's happening in the town and how Max has no reason to think Chloe is related to the storm).
The moment where Max tears apart the photo is perfect. The music, Chloe's reaction to realizing she's not going to die, and the confidence in Max's voice. There is no regret or doubt. She is saving Chloe. Even when they're driving out of Arcadia Bay you can see that Chloe is smiling and while Max is sad about what happened; she is not doubting her choice one bit.
They'll be fine.
Had they just given some more closure about the fate of the other characters and maybe a little scene of what happens after, it would have been a satisfying ending. But what they gave us was just enough (Or maybe too little) so we can fill in the gaps however we want.

I know. If any work is being done on S2 it is at most just discussing concepts. Their focus right now i getting Vampyr out so I would think even the LiS team is helping with that however they can.
I would expect an announcement of S2 some time mid-late next year with it actually coming out some time in 2018.

I'm really liking this so far. It's different since Max knows what happened to Rachel (But obviously cannot just tell Chloe) and we're seeing more into how they both felt over the five years. I hope things continue on this track of being familiar yet showing how Max is trying to change them for the better.
Plus she's already talked to David so he will know her and it may help diffuse the situation between him and Chloe. I wonder if Max will start to give hints to Chloe that she knows more or when she will move in and try to get David to go after Jefferson and Nathan.

Oh an Chloe watching over and tending to Max is hella cute. Nathan actually attacking her may work to her advantage if David saw it.
It's going to be tough though if Max cannot use her power and he has to balance acting like everything is new to her, keeping Chloe safe in the junkyard, possibly befriending Frank, and saving Kate (Max is going to have to really talk to Kate the next morning or meet her on the roof).

A few months ago we were coming up with scenarios for S2. Joy and Melody were two girls who grew up in a rural area. One of them was the town's troublemaker girl if I remember correctly and was helping out on a ranch that belonged to the other's family.
They would ride tractors and stargaze while laying in cornfields and it would be the epitome of comfiness.
