Max intelligence is always a good choice especially on survival. By default survival mode multiplies the respawn timers by 4~5, so experience is a good bit harder to get. Making the most of what you _do_ get with high INT will help.

>stealth...Is it really that mandatory?
Different anon here, but I would say no. Stealth only lasts as long as you are undetected (which is brief) and so once real combat starts those are just wasted perk points. Add to that mines can be found by hitting the VATS button, and I would say that there are much better things to spend perk points on.

What exactly is your problem with the Combat Rifle in full auto? The model has no bearing on its functionality in game. If it's the ammo type (.45 Auto is ridiculous for anything larger than a SMG, sure) then I don't really know what to tell you. 5.56mm is nowhere near as common now as it was in Fo3/FNV, so putting something general-purpose and automatic in that isn't really viable.

Enclave won't even show up, outside of 'one guy or perhaps a small squad ended up in this boat-shaped hell at some point, along with many other people'

People just have a way of ending up on this ship and then never being able to leave and they eventually go insane for reasons that will become abundantly clear when you play it

>>147002037
>>147002183
I tried combining it with the Northern Star mesh, didn't look very good. Also I'd have to snip off all the other crap from the FMS Northern Star ship model and fix up the holes anyways

This mesh I'm doing is just that back half mesh combined with the front half of the Northern Star mesh and then with patched up holes.

Yeah it is, but also isn't.
The eyes in the original design are more straight instead of being rabbit, or bird like. In fallout 2 they eyes of the helmet pointed at you, now they seem to just point off sideways.
Also the helmet has two riveting line or whatever and they aren't even straight, like the guy putting the helmets together just passed out while welding or whatever. The helmet has a part that is higher then the rest which is really odd.
The neck and chest area seems way way too big and bulky rather then the slim greek/roman armor look where the chest piece follows the muscles of the human body, instead it just sticks out about a foot and has square pex.

Another thing is the hump/collar isn't one piece, and I don't really like it.

Who cares? The design is like 95% the same as from Fo2/FNV, what does it really matter if the eyes are at 45 degrees instead of 35 degrees? There is much worse shit than that in the game to get upset over.
I love FNV, but the (2nd gen I guess?) version of PA is honestly terrible compared to how it looks now - it is no bigger than a set of combat armor. Bethesda evolved the design rather than starting from scratch (like with APA Mk.2 in Fo3) so I'm totally happy with it.

Yeah it's really good, and it looks better then the one in fallout 3 by a long shot, and a bit better then fallout NV. but both 4 and NV had this thing where the chest was sort of just a flat box, In my opinion I'd like it if the eyes didn't looks so angled away from each other just so slightly, and the chest had a more round almost bulky muscle like appearance. Maybe because it's a closer step towards the link between human and tank that doesn't involve mutating viruses.

its a shame that the weak ass vertbirids only exist because of a bizarre scripting error.

99% of Vertibirds that spawn are the level 20 versions, however, there are level 30, 40, and 50 versions in the game files, and they will spawn VERY VERY RARELY.

For some reason the spawn lists are setting the vertibirds to spawn the level 50 versions once you get high enough except as super rare occurances.

Arthmoor has said he looked at the leveld lists and shit, and can't figure out why this is happening as they all appear to be set up like any other leveled list, and thus should spawn the level 50 versions far more often

Fucking patriarchy.
>>
>>147010097

It would be different if they had changed, or the whole kidnap and kill thing was done only by a small part of the institute.

But those guys have lost touch with what means being human, there is only one scientist in the whole institute who cares a little about the commonwealth, and no one wants to hear him, they have better things to do, like kill people who are doing their best to survive in a harsh world, and replace them with synths, or inject untested drugs in gen3 synths and watch them go mad with pain.

Its almost ironic that Shaun believes Kellog death to be some kind of revenge, its not, Kellog was just a hired gun, the order to let everyone in vault 111 suffocate to death came from the institute, the order to kill Nora came from the institute, Kellog was a high quality mercenary, he would not fuck up and kill Nora by mistake, he did it because he had orders to kill her. From the beginning only the backup was going to "live".
>>
>>147011520
The BoS has always blown up technology they felt was too dangerous.

Thats why they sought to destroy the Master and his FEV all the way back in Fallout 1.

The Institute is a terrible base for the BoS because the only means into it are a teleporter that uses a massive amount of power to operate, and relies on a courser chip to work, or a sewer entrance only reachable through a whole lot of shit.

On top of that, Maxson's boS only has about 500 men in it, including scribes who don't fight, and the Institute is a massive facility that would take a good chunk of his men to reasonably secure.

On top of that, the only shit in the Institue is
A. FEV, which the BoS hates
B. Synths, which the BoS hated
C. Artificial crops, which the BoS has never cared about farming tech
D. Laser weapons worse then their own
E. A teleporter that takes a fuck load of power to use, and can't teleport outside the commonwealth really.
F. A nuclear reactor they have no means of moving to use in something else.

There is literally no reason for them to want to keep it, and sound tactical thinking would make them want to blow it up to prevent the enemy from having any chance of taking it back and regrouping.

So, guys, how have you deal with it?

I mean, I rarely complain about games, almost all my reviews on Steam are positive, I really like games.

But I can't get over Fallout 4. I mean, I can't deny that it is good, but it was not good enough, not even close.

I really trusted on Bethesda guys, I really did, after Skyrim I thought that great things were coming for FO4, I thought they really had learned something from New Vegas. The settlements thing was awesome.

Even after the first shock and crashes in the first month of release I still thought "This is going to get better, this is going to be an epic adventure about how "united we stand" or something, this is going to be cool, all these settlements are going to do something very cool, I'm sure that If I do enough of this minutemen radiant quest bullshit I'm going to get something awesome.

After the endings, I still thought "The DLCs are going to fix it all, it is going to really exploit everything that the game has to offer this is going to be awesome".

But no, it has not... And the game is not even terrible to bash it and hate it, it is just so mediocre, like something that would have come out of Steam Greenlight.

How do you cope with it guys? How?

>>147012798
Because NV wasn't that good.

-The faction rep system made the game far worse because it made NPCs near totally psychic to everything you did, preventing you from doing alot to sabotage the factions while still remaining on their good side.

-the armor disguise system simply didn't work in any logical way, and had no use in the game

-the DT armor system was so bad Sawyer had to give all medium and heavy armors DR in his personal mod because without it they didn't reduce any more damage then light armor

-Because the armor system was so broken, alternate ammo types were nothing but placebo effects on anything but the highest artificial difficulty setting, and even then, only in the DLC where level scaling was bad.

-the weapon and armor list was a bloated mess of shit where 90% of the guns were totally useless because their stats different so little from a similar gun that they played basically the game

-The game world was deader then dead. NPCs were barely more active then those in Morrowind, with most of them dong nothing but standing in one spot all day only to walk 5 feet to their bed.

-the lack of a random encouter system made the game world feel even more lifeless

-Obsidian's inability to "show not tell" resulted in yet another game by them where 99.99% of world details are given out in overly long NPC monologues that don't sound real, and seem more like people reading out of a atlas.

-All the facts were totally unlikable by any means, largely because they kept touting how great they were, but never managed to do shit without you

-The companions were, bar none, some of the most annoying NPCs in any game I have ever played, with Cass and Veronica constantly reminding me of shit written by bad fanfiction authors.

In short, NV was just a fucking terrible game that didn't work on any level, and worked in most ways worse then the already poorly made Fallout 3.

Fallout 4 takes most of the problems I had with NV and fixes them.

Something being annoying and being bad rolepay are entirely different.

>Optimal true roleplaying is your background not interfering with your current play
Background should have a lot of influence on the way you act.

What kind of person is not influenced by their past?

>EXACTLY, and what if I want to be something else ? what if I want to roleplay a dad, but an evil one not just an asshole ?

Play a different game!

Does anyone know of a mod that lets you outfit your settlers in batches or etc? I would really love it if I could have a box that I place my random guns, armor, and extra ammo and the settlers just grab anything that is an upgrade and trade in their old crap.

>Fallout 4 takes most of the problems I had with NV and fixes them.
And the fact that your skills don't have any impact on dialogue options as long as your charisma stat is high enough? That the game doesn't take your experiences into account in many important conversations(what's a ghoul? what's a supermutant? despite you having killed a dozen of each by the time you get to DC)? What about the being given your own private faction that you can't do shit with except build them homes and furniture that they never acknowledge or even comment on? I mean you can put the biggest fucking highrise in the center of a settlement and the settlers still act like they have to sleep under leaking roofs and swiss cheese walls on bug infested beds.

Those, combined with the god awful animations especially when it comes to weapons, are my absolute fucking dealbreakers.

You still can do that, as there are mixed reputations

>-the armor disguise system simply didn't work in any logical way, and had no use in the game

>And the fact that your skills don't have any impact on dialogue options as long as your charisma stat is high enough?
Most RPGs I have ever played only have a singular speech skill/stat that determine if you pass or fail a speech check.

Indeed, its near universally considered the OPTIMAL way to do speech checks, as it ensures that taking speech actually leads to a new gameplay experience, unlike New Vegas which had so many way to pass a speech check in every situation that basically every character could get the exact same things because chances were very low that they didn't have one of the 20 different skills/perks needed to pass the speech check.

>That the game doesn't take your experiences into account in many important conversations(what's a ghoul? what's a supermutant? despite you having killed a dozen of each by the time you get to DC)?
That is literally every RPG including New Vegas with its equally dumb "whats the NCR" questions despite the fact you literally came from the NCR before the beginning of the game.

Every RPG has you ask stupidly obvious questions the characters should know had they spent any time in that world, but that you are allowed to ask so the devs can give you, the player, the information.

Better then Yes Man whose only effect was changing some post-game slideshows that changed nothing in the game itself.

As least settlements produce shit based on happiness and what sort of resources you have there.

>Those, combined with the god awful animations.
Never had any problem with the animations, which are miles better then anything in Fo3 or NV.
>>
>>147013965
>Funny, that annoying thing pretty much breaks the 'RP' experience
No you just don't like it.

Your preferences != good RP.

What you wanted was some blank slate character to start out with and that is not what you got.

You got something that wasn't a blank slate and you couldn't avoid the character's past. It wasn't the character you wanted, so you said it was bad RP.

RP isn't really dependent on whether you were given a role or defined it yourself. The changes in the game didn't really fit the blank slate and instead focused on the assigned role.

More focus on the characters emotions than their abilities.

In New Vegas
>Kill three guys in the middle of the wasteland, no one around to see me do it = instant vilification
>Disable the nukes at the end of Lonesome Road with no one around to see me do it = instant + rep with the BoS and Followers

in Fallout 4
>Kill three BoS soldiers in the middle of the wasteland, no one around to see me do it = they don't know it was me
>Warn every faction during the Battle of Bunker Hill quest resulting in a large three way battle where no one knows whats going on = I can complete it any way I want and still stay on my factions good side by using their lack of knowledge to my advantage by lying about what happened.

>>147014347
>It's useful for stealth characters and quite a lot of quests
Given that any enemy NPC above grunt can see through it, and any good stealth character would have 100 sneak which would let them sneak up to someone in broad daylight and not get noticed, its literally useless.

>Oh hey, didn't see you there, thought you were a raider

>Most RPGs I have ever played only have a singular speech skill/stat that determine if you pass or fail a speech check.

Which is fine in most cases but not when it comes to Fallout or any other game that has it's roots in CRPGs. It is crucial that my chosen skills offer me new and interesting ways to play the game and solve situations in and outside of combat.

>Every RPG has you ask stupidly obvious questions the characters should know had they spent any time in that world, but that you are allowed to ask so the devs can give you, the player, the information.

Then they shouldn't give me the option to explore the world before the lore dump(have the player getting injured and waking up in DC or just let me say a variation of "Oh, that's what you call those ____? Yeah, they're not so tough.")

>Better then Yes Man whose only effect was changing some post-game slideshows that changed nothing in the game itself.

Which is perfectly fine when my choices don't have an impact until the game is over because it's just the planning phase.

>As least settlements produce shit based on happiness and what sort of resources you have there.

And that wouldn't be an issue if i was just a lone wanderer getting involved in local shit but Beth thought it was smart to apply the same "no far reaching consequences" logic to a game that has you build a faction with several towns, home to hundreds of NPCs complete with trade routes and shit and nobody really takes note of that. No mayor that approaches you for treaties or contracts, no settlement leader visiting you to feel out the new neighbors. Nothing.

>Never had any problem with the animations

Running animations have you sliding over the ground, weapon animations are recycled over and over again with many different types of weapons and NPCs just stand around during conversations. That is fine when you just don't want cinematic conversations but 3rd person conversations need actors to move and act lifelike.
>>
>>147015757

>Nope, only rangers/centurions who are quite rare
No they aren't, once you get past level 20, and get even remotely into the MQ, they start showing up all over the place.

>And to be honest pre-selected easter eggs are more fulfilling and rewarding to find than luck based one
Except they aren't Easter eggs, and comparing random encounters to Easter eggs is disingenuous as fuck.

>And boone's not forward at all with his background, hell, it's the hardest one to trigger in the whole game
Its only hard to trigger because Obsidian are idiots and put like over half the trigger points in event that happen BEFORE you meet him.

and being forward or not has nothing to do with what I said in the first place.
