Not really, solo content in the game was never where they tried to add difficulty.

The hardest part about leveling at release was the random elite mobs spread throughout the zone. And they weren't bad unless you accidentally kited something else into them.
I miss the elite glow; however, as it made the T2 contract a lot more annoying to complete.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's like a single player slasher until 50 with no need to ever group or talk to anyone. By far the most antisocial MMO that I've played. At least in a slasher game like diablo 2 you had more than one weapon choice. Only being able to use a 2h sword as a warrior makes the game feel like it's a pre everquest game released in 2014. Like some mid 90's game.
Vet dungeons and raids are nice, but you have get through the shitty single player game first. If this were 1995 wildstar would be okay. In 2014 it looks and feels like it's been outdated for 10+ years

I dunno. Wildstar feels like it discourages grouping while leveling, maybe because everyone moves at light speed, or because mobs are too easy and you don't need healing, and it doesn't help that all paths have different things to do or collect.

They made steps forward in difficulty, but that's it. They bored Tera and gw2's combat system and added telegraphs. did nothing new with crafting, borrowed dailies from WoW.
I know all games borrow from previous MMO's, but for the most part they feel like steps forward. Wildstar feels like it's taking steps back. borrowing and making things worse (crafting).

They do add to the game. Rogues for example get sword spec for an extra melee swing which is really nice for PvE. Daggers get crit nice for PvE dagger specs and PvP, Maces had a stun proc which was annoying but amazing for PvP.
Warriors had axe spec crit, sword extra swings, polearms, maces etc... They could dual wield for consistent damage for PvP, or 2h for bursty PvP. Add in racial ability that made a certain weapon desirable (but not manditory)
Not to mention it spiced things up. Warriors only using 2h swords would be so fucking boring. Not saying it should be WoW. It's just lame as shit is all.
Same with limited action sets. I get that you couldn't have everything without possibly being op, and it opens up some fun choices. Part of me thinks of so fucking boring and lame as well.

not only is that no longer true, but if you think about it, an extra swing isn't really different from a critical hit

The extra was was op in vanilla though. hand of justice trinket for a free swing, horde shaman with windfury for free swing, thrash blade for free swing, iron foe for 2 swings. On a rogue with slice and dice up for extra attack speed, coupled with the fact that a free swing could proc any of the other free swings made it fun as well. Sometimes you would be this massive flurry or damage out of nowhere.

I disagree. At least as an esper. group mobs were solo mobs with a little more health. I had go to a zone 7-10 levels higher and find a legendary champion mob to kite around to find a challenge .
Mobs that were labeled as 5 man mobs that dropped PAPs were almost always soloed, because you didn't need anyone else despite being 5 player elite mobs. People did that even in low ilvl 50 gear. It just got easier as power creep got stronger with higher ilvls.
Dungeons were fun and very difficult, but the world was a joke. Like Current WoW walk around like you're a god knocking things over joke. I wish the outside world was tougher,

As for why it didn't succeed, it was promoted as a wow killer, the sci-fi isn't popular in mmorpgs and can't really think of ona that's successful and going strong. On the other hand, starting your game with a 40 people raids when you don't have the player base ... you're going to fail.
Still hate the quests and how cluttered the ui is at times.

It's a free to play game, you shouldnt have to pay for anything, let alone to fucking demo something. Carbine even stated that everything would be completely free so you wouldnt have to pay for anything locked behind a paywall.
