I thought very carefully about my approach, how best to interrupt him, how best to setup punishes for failed parry attempts, and how to end the fight on my terms.
He swung a fuck huge hammer alot and won because due to latency in this game it's hard to judge when an opponents HA actually begins and ends. The only time I actually staggered him was when he was out of stamina. Even well timed hits between swings didn't interrupt his HA because unless you have zero latency between you and your opponent that shits impossible to interrupt on consecutive swings because the only way to time it properly with any weapon with short range is also to put yourself within range of the attacktl;dr peer to peer was a mistake

You should never EVER wear clutch rings with faith builds bc 90% of the damaging faith spells (all of the lightning ones) do most damage in melee range. The only rings that increase the damage are mourne's and that other faith ring. I generally use those 2 + saint's (trying to farm ears for dorkmoon ring now) and sage ring, but I occasionally swap out sage for another random situational ring.

Both infusions lower stability and damage reduction, which means you'll lose more health and stamina when you falseparry something.
Blessed is only worthwhile if you aren;t constantly fucking up parries. At some point, the extra points of damage taken from a falseparry end up outpacing the amount of regen you get over the course of a fight.
Simple is only worthwhile if your weapon has a good WA worth spamming.
Both of these infusions regen faster the higher their enhance level.

While following that quest, the Pale Shade won't invade you. You have to either skip Yoel's quest or betray him or Yuria before killing Abysswatchers to get the Farron Keep invasion. If you skip Yoel's quest, then he'll die after Abysswatchers and lock you out of it, but tyhe 2nd Pale Shade invasion is in Irithyll.
In other words, you cannot get the Pale Shade's set and the Lord of Hollows ending in the same playthrough, though you can still get Yoel's 5 levels and the set as long as you betray Yuria and trigger the invasion in Farron Keep before killing Abysswatchers

with Knight's Ring you can use Gargoyle Flame Hammer if you two-hand it
if you hug the wall on the left, the first dog doesn't aggro - it slowly walks to you when it hears your footsteps but it doesn't attack
you can run up to it and do a charged R2 while it roars and it triggers the riposte
after you kill it, you aggro the second dog and just walk away from it - it will jump and always miss you and you just stagger it with charged R2 as well

You can use the fire keeper soul to remove the sigils, which breaks the quest so not really.

Also there isn't really a great place to farm it but I suppose the two at consumed would be the way to go.
