The MOMENT you see a red bip come from the side of your screen and the enemy is no where in your FOV imminently sprint/jump/boost towards the nearest cover and preferably towards the nearest teammate. It's harder for them to get head shots at a vertical moving target so a quick jump/boost then sprint to cover to throw them off can be handy depending on the situation.
If there's no good cover around to recharge shields and your somehow still not dead, keep sprinting towards your teammates. The guy shooting you will hesitate in continuing chasing you and ideally your teammates will hopefully not be retarded enough to shoot back, at the very least they'll serve as a distraction.

This is so weird because something like that happened in the one game I played. The guy on my team clearly had no idea how to play RTS's and I was able to get by using some prior SC2 knowledge. Luckily for us, one guy on the other team completely had a seizure and stopped playing.We still won and my teammate messaged me thanking me for the win lel

It's for gameplay so I'm not really butthurt about it. In HW1 they had shields purely to stand out during battles. I'd only be pissed if they somehow had Mantis' and other modern UNSC tech despite being lost in space for 30 years.

Don't rely on your radar too much and use your peripheral vision when looking around.
Map knowledge is also key, from experience you can scan areas where enemies will most likely pop up from.
