Not really when every single weapon has an obvious counter, there's literally no reason to stay outside the 40/40 meta anytime soon.
The thing is, you'd actually get more scaling for some weapons, while also keeping atop the metashittery with your 40/40 refined bullfuck. There's still no downside to your 40/40 except a little less stamina. And since you're a melee, you don't really need more than 2 ringslots, making it able to go even 60/60 with knight and hunter.

Now that I've reached the end of the game with three different characters versed in each of the three primary elemental schools, i'd have to say that Pyromancy is the most effective over Sorcery and Miracles. Its the strongest against the most of PvE and it also comes with scaling in Dark. Fitting since it is also the most expensive to invest into stat point wise.
Miracles are better overall for buffing and Sorcery has practical spells and tricks, but Pyro is the best in terms of raw power and damage.

That's assuming Warrior. With 10 extra points you can get to 10 attn and 15 faith, but you'll still be out of denial range because 93FP and one slot. Cleric start gets you to 122 with 44/40/60/10. I guess you can just go 44/30.

You mean 44 vig? The amount of damage you'd gain per fight by leveling up dex on a D scaling weapon is probably going to be greater than the amount of health you gain with your last five or so points of vigor there friend. Even if you have life +3 and favor +2, I'm pretty sure all the points after 40 give 19 hp or less.
If you haven't leveled dex up yet, you'll get like 3 extra points of damage on a D scaling weapon. If you hit someone at least seven times in a fight, you're dealing that three extra damage seven times, meaning you opponents HP is 21 points lower than it otherwise would be. Going that high with your vigor is pretty useless unless you're already are killing people in just one or two hits or can't add any more str/dex

It doesn't matter what the SL meta is. Magic builds currently need 100 levels or more to be even remotely competitive in duels. You can build glass cannon and have lots of success in invasions with stealth OHKO's, but you'll get rekt in duels, as this game promotes having shitloads of stamina and HP like no other.

Twinblades in general were shitty and ineffective due to low damage (dex scaling was shit in ds2) long startup, low range and generally awkward moveset.
Sorceror's Twinblade in particular was absolute irredeemable trash because of the already high stat investment (20/20) which no self-respecting sorceror was going to waste points on when more useful weapons like MLGS cost less.
Also it was shit as a catalyst, so why even bother.

The only twinblade in the game that scaled primarily with dex was the curved twinblade, which was the only bad one.
Stone was strength-leaning quality and an excellent weapon
Regular Twinblade was pure quality and extremely good owing to its low stamina costs
Santier's was a non-scaling weapon with crazy high base damage and even after its nerf remained excellent all-around
Red Iron Twinblade was a pure str twinblade, as well as being literally the DaS2 darksword.

Stone twinblade ,red iron winblade and dragonrider twinblade were borderline OP with a good build.
True they had strange moves, but they were fun, and pretty balanced, fast, could counter backstab fishing idiots, caught people off guard a lot too.
