Floodgates don't mean anything if the monster hey have to be equipped to can't even hit the field. Red-Eyes only has Flare Metal because the Fusion spell is too restirctive and Lord of the Red is level 8 for some god damn reason.
Dark Magician requires a three card combo to get anywhere and even then it isn't enough, a straight MST kills the strategy. Toons will never be consistent and are slow inherently. Blue-Eyes has speed and somewhat fixed its bricking problem, can deal with extra deck floodgating, and doesn't autolose to Solemn unless you opened bad enough
