It's extremerely rare unless the faction has the ruin-dweller trait. Even with the trait it's still very fucking rare. In my current Chaos game the Baersonling tribe chooses to stay in one settlement, even though there are ruins right next to them that would complete the provincial rule and they just don't, for 70 fucking turns.
You should be able to tell them to via diplomacy, the same way war co-ordination is supposed to work.

In any case, the Empire doesn't steamroll Bretonnia because they have far bigger threats to take care of to send their armies to capture Bretonnia, which isn't really a good reward for the effort it would take. Also the Lady of the Lake would probably do something about it, and even though I think the Empire would end up defeating her it's simply not worth it. Also Bretonnia is among the forces of Order, so killing them off when Archaon is just about to stroll down with his dick out is just retarded.

There's no cutscenes for beating the game, for quest battles, for winning the game, for losing the game, for factions being destroyed, for new units, for most events.
There's no speeches, no tutorial campaign, no unique advisors, no quest chains or a cool text adventure/specially designed levels, forcing lords in multiplayer, and no town view.
The more I play this game the more I feel like it was rushed to release and needed at least another year.

I'm a camper at heart and hate to rush enemy lines, the orcs are for the line, spider, giant and troll stay behind it and destroy the flanks once it begins. The enemy usually collapses pretty fast after that.

I build them in lieu of knights since I know I'm having a fort built in Reikland within the first 10-15 turns or so. I actually didn't get demigryphs 'til well after the chaos invasion, and desu I think I like Reiksguard better in most armies. Demigryphs are an elite "kill anything 1v1" unit but you can take 3 reiksguard, lump em together and spam right click on a part of the enemy line and fucking hammer them through clear to the other side with minimal losses. There's a weight of numbers there that I like having around until steam tanks can do the job.
