Has anyone here played, and beaten IX on Steam? I'm on 'Disc 4', just got here. I'm having a devil of a time getting Zidane's Ultima Weapon from the ocean. I don't recall it being this annoying on the previous versions. The Final Fantasy games were the base cases for PCSX2 development and will play fine on even toasters these days. Of course, if you want to upscale everything past native resolution then you'll need better hardware, but you can just put it in software mode and call it a day. My laptop on an i5 4200M and Intel HD 4600 can run X, X-2, and XII without problems.

I don't think everything should revolve around the protagonist. It's one of the minor reasons I hate VIII. I think all party members should have their own things that are uniquely theirs. However I despise the main character not being at the center of the main plot. No matter how insignificant that main plot is in the grand scheme of the world. Therefore when they had X's story in front of them, they clearly should've made Yuna the controlled character. I'm not advocating increasing Tidus' acts and importance at all, since it would be very unnatural. In fact it's already unnatural in its present state, because he was made the protagonist and needed them after.
Granted it's a preference, but I fundamentally despise the concept of ensemble casts, because one among them will inevitably be slightly more important than the others no matter how ideally the importance is distributed, and that person will then be the MC at worst case scenario by being the first controlled character if need be. Now if the MC is under player choice like in BCVII then I can accept everyone being equal no matter how much more charismatic and story relevant by backstory some are. So yes, this peculiarity I do possess and we won't see eye to eye on it. It doesn't make sense to me, so I reject it. The cast can be important without it and should be.
So onto the particular games:

people have developed ways to leave the game on at night because of how they programmed the AI to just auto-battle. So while I wouldn't recommend looking up those methods, I'd suggest experimenting as much as you can, especially when you get a new Gambit AI.

Will do some experimenting for sure, it actually makes it look like one of the strongest battle tools in an FF game. A really neat alternative to just grinding, setting up a better script as preparation is really cool way of doing things.

Everyone keeps on comparing XII to SW, but honeslly besides a few scenes I really can't see it. The plots are nothing alile, and neither are the characters. Sure the setup of balthier and Fran are similar to han and chewie in that they're partners in a ship and the furry doesn't talk much, but beyond that they're completely different.
What am I missing?
