Let's say the playerbase is a fucking mess. It seems like 90% of the people I play with lacks a brain or have a few extra chromosomes. Most of them only think about themselves and once they're done with their kill counts, they don't mind throwing you under the bus.
I'm sure around 60% of the server are Filipinos and 30% are South Americans, leaving the remaining 10% to actual native English speaking players. If you think BR's are bad in MMO's you haven't seen the shit South American players pull in this game. At least 50% of the Filipino population aren't mouthbreathers.

Couple that with modern MMO design 'kill x monster xx times', people just look at guides where to level, go to the place, solo em or party to speed things up a bit. Most casuals today absolutely hate it. I remember our old guildies magically got together in a classic p.server (we were around 40, and it was 10 years after we more or less all quit, the power of facebook), we farmed up and started playing WoE oldschool style. We singlehandedly killed the WoE as the competition just stopped playing because all the guilds were mostly shitters monks wanting to asura spam with free consumables, so they couldn't break through.

It 'rebalanced' the areas and exp system so that you get dimishing returns from enemies outside your level range. That means no more clever strategies to kill high level mobs and no more grinding on low-level enemies for some relaxed exp.
Secondly third jobs turned nearly every job into a 1-man wrecking ball, so there's really no need to party you can just solo most things no problem.
So the pre-RO exemplifies clever builds and co-operating with other human beings whereas Renewal RO represents single-optimised builds and solo'ing.
