What I like about top lane is that it has that relaxing feeling about it. It feels like you can be anything you want up there, let it be a tank, an AD focused champ, a ranged AD champ (although I hate those who does that for some reason), etc. Anything goes up there.
As for champ, Poppy feels flexible regardless who she faced against. She can fuck people up with her E+Q combo, fucks people like Riven, and she just feels comfy overall.

Playing top lane is the equivalent of flipping a coin heads or tails and you win or lose almost entirely depending on how the rest of your team does. Performing better than that average is what gets you that rank. The trick is playing champs in odd roles. So when you go support Swain and go 15/2/7 and 300 cs, you'll probably get a high score because the average for support Swain would probably be rather low.

I've played exactly three free to play games in my life that were worth spending time on. League, DotA, and Cho Ren Sha 68k. The former two are highly debatable given a number of reasons but they are ones I enjoy. At this point in time a game being free to play is actually a detractor. From what little I played of TF2 though I did not care for it much, maybe I was too late to the show.

Tanks/juggernauts are pretty strong at the moment and giving them like 2 or 3 kills is enough for them to dominate lane and carry.
With adc you feed them 6 kills then they start chasing into enemy jungle or splitpushing a lane alone resulting in throwing whatever lead you give them.
I will agree that top lane is near impossible to carry from though due to the fact that junglers never fucking gank and if they do they rarely ever get the kill
