Ok so supposedly radial/triangle/waning is the go to gem imprint combo for split damage weapons that benefit greatly from nourishing gems, but why is that? Nourishings are all the same across the 3 gem shapes
In fact, it would be much easier to get a full set of good gems if they were all radial because then you could farm the gargoyles on that chalice for 19,3 % nourishing without having to savescum bosses all day long

Tricked mode still mostly scales from Str. The beams themselves are what scale from Arc.
If you planned on going to level 117, for example, then the ideal template build would be this:
CF-44/18/25/25/05/25
That leaves you at level 92 with 25 points to spare. From there you decide whether you prefer melee or beam spam. If you prefer melee then you drop your last 25 points into Str. If you prefer beams then you drop those last points into Arc.
So you end up with:

Move up close to bait the big smash attacks and have a whack at the head when you can
Also, when she rips off her arms for the final phase stay close to her (not underneath) leaning more to her right side (your left side) to bait the arcane charged smashes
When she does those smashes, immediately move closer to where her head is going to be, the smash will miss you and you can get 2 hits with a slow weapon, probably more with a fast weapon
Don't try anything when she drools that slime shit all over, you don't want to get chipped by that, just play defensively
DON'T go under her, despite what some people might say, even if you don't move an inch when her jump is coming, it might still hit you

Like the fucking dogs who are always near the keepers of the old gods who can breath fire and jump at you while ignoring your attacks. Having those fuckers at bay with the threaded cane is a blessing.
Really, it's useful for any enemy you suck at parrying or dealing with, since you can just keep your distance and chirp its health with R2.

Why does this gun exist?
It has extra range over the blunderbuss, but the longer recovery time after firing means you can only land the riposte if the enemy was right next to you anyway. Am I missing something?

the amount of bonus damage you get is based on 2 multipliers, one based on the scaling and the other in how much of a stat you have
25 gives 50%, so if your weapon was a C in STR with 50% scaling and you had 25 STR you'd get bonus damage equal to 50%*50%=25% of the base damage of the weapon

Whirligig is insane at crowd control honestly. I think it's the overall most versatile weapon in the game and probably the best.
Some weapons do specific things better, but whirly is so different between its two forms, it's insane.

I assume you're just expected to upgrade your weapon before fighting cleric beast? I still beat it but it took about 5 minutes of wailing on it and 15 blood vials.

Personally, I use them like this:
Whirly one handed: Stunlocking/interrupting small easy to stagger or fast enemies (e.g. humans, dogs)
Axe two-handed: Crowd control. L2s and fully charged R2s are amazing for this. It's also good for hitting high targets like when trying to nose bop the Defiled Watchdog
Whirly two handed: Staggering large enemies (e.g. Watchers, Fleas) and doing massive damage, especially to bosses.

It's the fault of everyone who got involved with that shit: Gehrman, Laurence, Micolash, Willem, etc.
Some thought they were doing the right thing (Gehrman and Laurence), some realized things would go to shit but didn't do anything to stop it (Willem) and some knew things would go to shit and were completely okay with it (Micolash) but in the end they are all guilty.

Without going into wild guessing territory, we only know he seeks a cure for his illness and apparently wants to murder the shit out of everything (be it for a good cause or because he is a psycho) and an antagonist is someone who opposes the hero and stands in the way of his goal, and there aren't any characters who are particularly interested on stoping the Hunter from finding a cure or murdering everything (aside from Djura).
Everyone the Hunter faces either crosses paths with him by mere coincidence or are antagonized by the Hunter himself/herself.
