The whole thing is really depressing. I really, really love The Sims and have been playing since the 1st one. Hundreds and hundreds of hours. I've spent maybe 1/10 the amount of time with Sims 4 than I did with Sims 3.
I hate EA so much. They have never recovered from something like this - with any franchise they have. Once they knock it out, they keep kicking it while it's down instead of trying to raise it back up. Meh.
I think it has to do with them trying not to make the game too intense because 3/4 of their fanbase is playing on Commodore 64s. The Sims 3 was just about perfect, design-wise. But because they can't optimist code and their userbase plays on whatever their parents hand down to them, they had to backpedal and gut it. Enter Sims 4. Sims 5 will probably be iOS.

Yea, there are so many things in TS4 that are two steps forward and one step back. The way sims look, react, animate, and multitask are fucking incredible, yet no open world, no CASt, and no more actually building your own worlds. It frustrates me so badly when I see something in a public lot that I can't fucking edit or replace or add to. TS4 is the only sims game that restricts you like this.

TS3 was the worst in my opinion, I love 4 so much more than 3 and now my sims don't look like Pudding faces. I've also played since the sims 1 days. Played 3 for a bit and hated it so much I just went back to 2, yes I did give 3 multiple tries with new expansions and all that but just....no. TS4 is a much better sequel to 2 than 3 was and if they continue the franchise I want it to build more on 4 and not follow in 3's footsteps.
