It's Get Gud and learn to play well. If you actually let someone run off and heal without at least knocking them back down for 2 hits, you fucked up.
Healing against me is essentially just asking for constant free combos against you. They end up in a loop of constantly back rolling twice to estus, eating 2 hits and then repeating it till they have none left.
Then of course they alt+f4, because PC is brilliant.

DaS3 is awful, and the only defense people have is "b-but it's better than 2"!
They're both awful for completely different reasons, and DaS1 is terrible solely because it destroys B buttons in record time.
These guys actually aren't that bad. I actually find them easier to parry than some of the easier enemies in DS1 who had ridiculously slow windups that made you pull the trigger too soon with anticipation.

Did it at SL 57. Just dodge, watch his clone so that you know what the real Pontiff is going to do, while dodging the clone as well (got like a second between the clone's attack and Pontiff's attack, even longer on his dive) then punish. You can punish Pontiff really easily when he does either dive. Kill the clone and fight him 1v1, then smack him a ton when he goes to resummon it. You can kill the clone and do a ton of damage to Pontiff at the same time if your weapon has a good arc and you keep hitting him during the animation.

No, but it makes it a lot easier since it means you only need to dodge one enemy rather than two with a second between attacks. Helps that the clone has basically nothing going for him in terms of HP. When both do the explosive dive it means you're spacing a lot more to get away. Better to only deal with the one dive, one onslaught and one glide than all of that but with a follow-up.

You can kill the clone before the animation finishes where the clone slides away from Pontiff and takes a stance with its sword. If you don't do it before it finishes spawning, you can still kill it before its sword is raised in the stance. Otherwise you just bait out their attacks and then finish the clone.
He'll constantly resummon it during the fight if you keep killing it, but it means you get a huge window to attack him each time, and kill off the clone when it shows up
