Starting classes are about 5 levels higher. You need a lot more Attunement for the same number of slots. You'll also need a little VIT if you are a heavy build.
It makes absolutely no sense that the level meta would stay the same where you simply need to be a little higher. The fact that the starting classes are higher alone should be enough to push a SL130 meta.

Spear is underrated, at least earlygame. As a little tip, if you meet an enemy that seems overwhelming, try just jabbing away at him. They get stunned pretty easily. I've heard people say that the same enemy didn't get stunned easily with other wepaons.
Your heal spell is a bit crap but it's a nice safety net to just top your health out when exploring.
