I played like 700 hours of BB and made a whole heap of builds.
I feel like the build variety in DaS3 is actually LESS than it. In BB each weapon was so specialized and particular and required so much moveset mastery that each weapon was practically a build with it's own ideal gem setups and combos.
DaS3 I mained a quality build first off, a Luck build second, and a Mage third and I feel like that's basically it.
Quality is so damn stupid in this game because it makes you a master at literally 90% of the weapons. It's one build to rule many weapons, there's no special building around one weapon here. It's just "get 40 in STR/DEX and walah.
Same with magic. It's just "Go 60 INT to shoot the same old soul arrows you've gotten bored of since DeS" or "Go 60 FAI to shoot the same old lightning spears you've done since DaS1" or "Get 30/30 and go Fire Orbs and Dark stuff like you did before".
Luck is essentially "Use Anri's Sword and X Hollow weapon + Bleed resin, GG"
If I scrounge it up further, I can I guess turn a faith build into a "Blessed Build" but that's pushing it, they're the same thing anyway.
Poison build doesn't exist, Dex build doesn't exist, STR build doesn't even exist, STR Quality blows it out of the water easily.
Whip build? Fist builds? Both gimped and shit.

So I wanna play the Crown DLC trilogy for DS2 before I start on 3 but I don't want to spend the money on the season pass or First Sin upgrade.
Is there a way to pirate just the DLCs or would I have to pirate a full package of DS2 or First Sin?

To be fair, DaS1 and DaS2 patches both had patch notes consistently. Especially all of DaS1's, even the ones that never actually got a western release and only the Japs got to play with them in play first.
Such cases include the "sorry, we broke summoning" patch, the "we broke summoning again" patch and the "summoning works again now" patch, for Jap-exclusive patches. Ring of Fog etc etc's balance changes had patch notes, too
