Oh, sorry. Yeah, your goal is to stay at as low HP as possible with him as captain. There are a few units that have specials that reduce your HP to 1 that are commonly seen on Croc teams.

do things like sockets and powerups (from eggs, cotton candy, books, etc) carry over through evolutions? Or am I just wasting shit on my unevolved mihawk?

Candy carries over everything, even from unit to unit.
Sockets carry over only from evolution, you can see the sockets that the unit will get in the evolution screen.
Special level carries over ONLY if the evolution has the same special as the pre-evolution.

At that point you farm raids for best exp per stam. If you don't have the units to farm raids then do 30 stam fortnights. If you want to go full autismo then check the chart for half stam/double pirate exp days for best exp per stam.

Ok fags, how did the usopp'''''un raid go? Did you get what you wanted from slots and gpu books? How many extra cottons? Did you gem?
I managed to fully socket my main GPU (was already at max special/3lock/3despair so it didn't take long) and then I used a TON of copies to socket my impact, now sitting at max skill/5lock/4despair, last 20 copies were like 15 poison resistances, so in the end I gave up. I also got about 8-10 of each cotton candy type and I finally maxed my 3 designated CC characters: doffy for atk, blackbeard for hp and enel for rcv.
My second GPU has still 0 sockets, but he's already at special level 4 and I managed to grab 7 gpu books in total for the nextneverskillup event.
I spent less than 10 gems in total, no regrets. Not pulling this croc sugo either.
Sorry for the blogpost, but I wanted to know your experiences with this raid, and thread is dead anyway.

I only farmed cobymeppo for two days and I got an alarming number of robin books. My robin is already maxed. When I farmed the island the first time I remember getting 4 books in 2 weeks. This game has to know.

I dunno, I was like, level 130 when I beat it, so maybe my merry took more tries than I thought, then again, I got it maxed just before the recent cotton candy events, which gave out crazy amounts of cola, so that's probably a factor, I'd say yes with the right experience, the most common f2p slasher team for it is GPU, Mr. 3, Helmeppo, who you don't seem to have, but who you could easily get today if you don't have him, Arlong, and 2 mihawks Personally I have Inthawk and Doma, so I used Doma over Helmeppo (who I didn't have) because mine was high level and his special reduces bind duration and Inthawk over Mihawk because my levels were better, Your units should be sound (I only used Mihawks specials once each so I don't think skill level is super important, but if your damage is lower, it won't hurt)

Technically you don't need any sockets, but the more auto-heal levels you have the less reliant you are on RNG
I used an INTHawk friend with Matching orbs and heal, so I had 500 heal/turn and lvl 1 matching orbs. Lock or silence resist doesn't matter

Two small adjustments from my experience: use GPU at first Blamenco, so that you can heal up to max without Izo, and use raid Mihawk's special too at Izo for easier clear
you can also use Doffy's special to kill the lobsters if you fuck up with the Perona turn

I have a question for legend owners, take this knowing that I absolutely mean no harm with it.
Do you think that having a top-tier legend (LL, Rayleigh, G3, etc) takes away some of the fun from the game?
I still didn't pull any legends or g3 after almost 400 days, but that just made me more determined and focused about clearing hard content. Clearing WB forest after months of hard work (maxing out every character, getting good sockets) and about 200 unsuccessful runs made me feel so happy I was grinning like a retard, and I felt this way was because I spent so much time and energy on doing it.

I also never prepare for raids, so the first time I do one I usually fail. It sounds retarded but I honestly envy the Nips how they can't prepare for such things either.

It takes away from some of the grind for alternative units, so I'd argue the opposite. Their only downside is their immense cost, so you'll be grinding for plvl's anyways so you can actually use them.

at this stage of the game, yes, as stuff is still easy. Once shit like Aokiji's and subsequent forests, Colloseum comes out you'll be absolutely fucked without a legend, or even, the right legend.

I have 2 and I still have so much fun. Whitebeard helps since I never use him as a captain other than to clear the forests so far and Sengoku has opened up so many team combinations and getting to use so many units I never thought would have value. I'm grinding fortnights even harder now to max the skills of every unit I have and leveling all my low level units as much as I can

I started playing when Rayray was added to global. I rerolled from a suggestion from a friend and got him. I didn't actually start using him until later though, around Whiskey Peak/ when I made the jump from some 15sta to 30sta fortnights. Was really helpful. I didn't use him so early on though, so I don't feel like I cheezed the game much. I haven't used him on any raid except Garp, but I stuck with a double Vista team my first few tries of it. I would say he's helped without making things too easy.

I'm pretty happy with it, I have 4, and frankly I don't use them that much besides Inthawk, who's not really significantly better than Mihawk for most things, and without skillbooks, I rarely if ever even use his special, beyond that, My Ace teams just not up to scratch, though he's a lot of fun to use, so I do it from time to time, I have yet to use Whitebeard as a captain because I only recently evolved him, and My Log luffy is only used for raids and stuff because when I'm doing fortnights I don't pay enough attention to be consistent with him

Not at all, i'd say that it boosts you a little bit, you still need to work hard for the sockets, cola, and farmables... having legends doesnt even speed up the process depending on your luck with RR or drops. I have a Rayleigh.
