Black butterfly is just an added bonus with its ether res down. I'm actually in the Mastermind class (4 slots) since it gives the highest potential bonus and a small ranged attack bonus. If my gatling gun had potential XX on it I would probably deal 5.8 mil per hit.

As others have noted, it's pretty predictable for Monolith as well. Even Xenosaga doesn't end with a completely clear resolution. This franchise has an outside chance if Nintendo forces them to stick to it, but we're not going to get any word about their next big project for at least a year unless they've been very busy with the NX.

So I just finished chapter 12.
I had maxed out diskbombs with my level 50 formula with the missle mag, but the damage was so much that I ended up killing him the moment the message popped up, which is supposed to destroy skells.
Anyway, this chapter was fucking amazing. There is so much that I loved about this chapter holy shit. From the noah's ark, human conciousness, xenosaga references, Lao, and goddamn the cliffhanger ending made me even more excited. Tell me once again why the hell is the story bad, is it just because people hate cliffhangers? Because the there is so much meat and hidden detail in the dialogue, and so much you can think about, holy shit.
Xenoblade Chronicles never had these thought provoking questions. I don't know maybe it's perhaps because sci-fi resonates with me more than fantasy. But holy hell, I really enjoyed this chapter.

Joker is a level 90 bug that is inside that giant plant in the Divine Roost in Noctilum. He's surrounded by other level 60 bugs.
Phoenix is a thermal back weapon that hits with an AoE. Since Joker and the others are weak to thermal, you can very easily KO all of them at the same time (Joker is also very weak).
Repeat multiple times for great EXP/class EXP gains.

If you are a poorfag, sell it, honestly. There isn't much to the endgame. Finshing it was fun, exploring the world for the first time, flying for the first time. But there is no point in framing Tethy for 20 hours straight unless you are retarded. They should have implemented all those huge monsters into the story instead of making most of them optional so even someone who doesn't enjoy farming for the sake of farming (and some stupid, overpowered gear) actually gets to fight them.

Phoenix is a double-shoulder thermal weapon, you can buy it at the shop or as a drop from tiny ganglion robots, the puges, on Sylvalum's Basr Basin for example. I'd buy it. Equip it on a skell with thermal up armor, Mastema has it by default IIRC.
In northern Noctilum, at the top, lies a giant flower you can enter, within lies Joker a level 90 blatta that's relatively harmless, and like 16 blattas of level 60.
Lower yourself on Joker and IGNITE MY PHOENIX WINGS to earn massive class points and shit drops. If Joker doesn't die leave, retun to skell and kill the minions again. If he dies that's pretty good for a shitter, no offense intended, so you can earn more points and sometimes even a good drop.

Yggy is more valuable, but yeah, focusing on appendages and leaving once they're all destroyed is the best way to go. Meme missiles are the way to go, then focus your build on destroying appendages and making your meme missiles stronger. Or if you don't want to build a new skell right now, just destroy appendages however you can. Ares 90 doesn't take that long. Farm the mats you can if it's quicker.
