All you have to do is wait for the Hiryuu to strike first, defend yourself, then go on the offensive.
If the Hiryuu is alone without support then just engage the fighters and wallop her with 7+ torpedo hits that converge onto the target.
The one reason I have been looking forward to the Saipan is to shit all over a Hiryuu. The fighters are faster so you can force an engagement and disengage if you don't want to fight. No AA involved should have the Saipan fighters win nearly every time. The torpedo bombers are only 8 knots slower than the Hiryuu fighters so you have much more time to retreat.
Hiryuu's AA will do fuck all against the torpedo bombers. You'll lose 1 or 2 after dropping and outpace the turning circle if they try to maneuver.
Devastating a Hiryuu is the only reason I want a Saipan. Clearly they don't give a shit about my Ranger, so I'll just bring out the Saipan once in a while to even the score.
Shoucuck is terrible at killing AA Queen Lexington, now Saipan will have a solid chance of deleting a Hiryuu.

I do not mind having one fighter, I enjoy sending my fighter to their base at the beginning of the game so we have any idea what is going on, spotting DDs, and finding torpedo waves. But nope some of the line has to be gimped into choosing a role.
There is zero need for Bogue through Lexington to be all fighters or all bombers. They "forced" IJN CV into a balanced build and should do the same for the USN.

That ship broke me. I wasn't the greatest at BBs when I started going down the line. I did a hard multi-day grind through it and was a zombie by the time I finished.
I felt so drained that I only played a few North Carolina games then quit for a solid month to recuperate. It became my favorite USN BB though. As much as I like North Carolina and Iowa for their speed, I enjoy the slow stubby Colorado more.
The buffs it received in turret speed, reload rate, and accuracy make it very playable.

I like the mid-tier USN BBs since they are smaller targets and have great turning and solid armor. Colorado is my favorite since it is a standard battleship yet has 16-inch guns.
