Once more, swordsmen do not suck. That's a dumb meme we created so less people roll swordsmen and roll other classes instead since too many people were rolling swordsmen.
The general consensus is actually that Doppel C2, Dragoon, and Fencer C2 are all powerful in their own right and not underpowered at all.

Okay so regarding that build, Peltasta C2 + Cata C1 is pretty terrible idea because of weapons. Peltasta focuses on shields, and Cata gives you access to only 2h spears.
A path of Squire is a hard and challenging one. First of all, you'll be lacking damage after rank 4. You went for a tank build, but consider something more DPS'y, so you can do well when solo.
A lot of people seem to be against this, but Peltasta C3 is not too bad when it comes to dealing damage, but it's not "the king" in it, obviously.
Highlander C3 is also pretty legit, has nicer damage, can block attacks with two-handed sword, but no AoE taunt.
As for exact skill distribution, check the wall of builds above for general pointers, and then spice it up a bit if you wish.

Extremely strong singletarget with Broadhead, Magic Arrow and Barbed Arrow. But Barbed and Crossfire in particular cost a fuckton of SP.
Sustained AoE is decent, but you have to spend so much SP for it which is really annoying. Meanwhile an Ele3 just drops a Frost Cloud and kills shit faster with like 15 times less SP usage.

Unless you want the mount badly, go ahead. I played Pelt C3 Squire C3, and it wasn't too bad. I managed to solo Squire C2 advancement boss, when still wearing some really low level (1-10) gear. Sure it took few minutes, but Peltasta got buffed a bit since then in terms of offense.
But its' defense buffs are pretty bad right now. Pretty serious attack reduction for really insignificant defense increases. Shame, really. Hopefully they get fixed.

As someone whose spent 600 hours already playing icbt1 and 2 this is just a reminder of what is to come. Without 3x rates you're all going to be grinding Cathedral for weeks. They nerfed blue spawns too and even with cards which you shouldn't use early it's a bitch.
Also 60% of the population according to IMC's official polling is indeed BR. They crashed the instance and messaging server with their spamming of megaphones and crap for weeks.
For those faggots talking about instance dungeons and exp they don't mean shit when the server crashes and lags. Plus a lot of them didn't give dick shit for exp in iToS which they could just do again.

Outside of Bokor and rodelero, everything works one way or another, and even Bokor works fine it's just that zombies are crap, and even mackangdal being secretly OP.
You can just copy the meme builds koreans are using for the tryhard content or pvp fotm if you feel insecure, but by the time you reach rank 7 those builds might be significantly changed already or nerfed to hell.
So you'll be stuck with some weak ass character you probably didn't even want to play just because it had some damage modifier toned up too high or some utility skill having no downtime and no flaws.
My suggestion is, if something sounds too good, make sure the other skills in the same class are decent too, if something sounds weak but fun take other classes that can still carry you regardless of one or two of your circles being bellow the average performance.
If you're entirely new and don't know the current meta, then lurk more, or watch some streams.
