I thought that the new Ascendancy areas were supposed to be there to give you added abilities to help you cope with Act 4? Well after getting all the trials done in Act 3 I tried and tried and tried to kill Izaro. AS a level 35 it was not possible at all. He could easily 1 shot me in the 2nd phase with 1k life and maxed resists. So I went all through Act 4 with ease and at 45 went back. I was able to get through the 2nd phase and then get once again 1 shotted in the third phase. So am I to assume that you now must have at LEAST 4K life and be level 60 to do Izaro on normal??? This is supposed to be easier than Act 4 bosses, which are a joke compared to Izaro.

How can anyone play act 4 on hardcore? I died 10 !!! times fighting piety the abomination with that ridiculous blood laser beam and constant ball of blood attacks that two shot you. How about a dreamfeather elemental ground slam build?
1. Scion start, go templar elemental, life, crit and aoe nodes
2. Ascend to ranger raider+path of the ranger, grab evasion, onslaught, and elemental damage+pen nodes
3. Go down to duelist area for leech and dw crit
4. Use 3 jewel slots for -3 frenzy charges, get permanent onslaught
5. Get a high attack speed elemental damage sceptre in main hand, dreamfeather in off-hand.
6. Ground slam+wed+faster attacks+crit strikes+added cold
7. Grace+HoI+curse on hit+assassin's mark

depends on what you define viable
you can play almost any skill to endgame, but depends on how good it is, you'll go slower or faster.
Some tips: all melee skills with melee splash are very bad; the good ones are the ones with in-built AoE. Spells are easy to start with since they scale with level. Don't use a lot of non damage support gems. Don't convert damage just for the sake of it, for example, physical to lightning. Bows are a pain to start with
