This might sound weird, but reading that brings on a sudden memory of the warmth of summer slipping into autumn, the smell of pizza, nights which were warm and dark, orange lights flooding the last evenings before Fall Semester.
It brings back a glimpse of trepidation, a universe I had never seen before - a strange fiction where the creatures which haunted my childhood were suddenly taking on the role of an enemy. But they weren't just enemies, they were a fresh breath of interest into a long lost memory that I considered a nightmare, now slowly being turned into fascination.
I remember waking up in the basement at night and seeing the glint of the light from upstairs reflecting off of various metal and glass objects down there and having a moment of sleep deprived stupor where my heart skipped a beat because I remembered Freddy's eyes in the dark. I remember the closed-in darkness the first time I played, the way the office felt like it was surrounded for miles by the dead haunting creepy animal dolls. The smell of a late summer eve's air, cicadas screeching as the fan inside the office buzzed and the phone rang. And slowly, after being startled time and time again, the world seemed to feel like home. Something I could explore; something I could delve into.
I try not to forget those days. Even though it's different now, even though the summer has burned by and the creatures no longer lurking in the edges of my nightmares, I still feel those sensations when I remember hard enough.
And at the end of the day, even when I'm fed up or feeling burnt out, that memory keeps me coming back. A little game that took the world by storm swept me away, and I won't forget it.
But then again, I'm just a sentimental faggot on a furry thread on an aztec crop growing forum sharing his thoughts for no reason other than a lapse in proper judgment and a desire to share a memory.

The studio execs for The Thing's prequel covered everything up in CGI post-production without the approval of the creative crew because of millenials. Not even a joke.
I was referring to SS2, not FNAF. Krampus and 10 Cloverfield Lane both show you can do horror in a PG-13 environment pretty well, but some blood and guts does add to the atmosphere depending on the story, like Hellraiser.
Although, FNAF's inherently got some pretty bloody concepts, and there's some blood visible in 1/2. It might benefit from some of the viscera factor if they wanted to show a guard getting caught or something.

True, but their horror was more of the unknown, glimped terrors, and relying on imagination more than showing, like the girl exploding behind a tarp after being bitten by a parasite and keeping Clover to quick glimpses until the very end with his closeup. I'd imagine the FNAF movie would do the same, things more implied than shown until the last part of the film.

Like other people are saying, the DEEP LORE has become such a clusterfuck that no one, here or anywhere else, has come up with a definitive 'this is what happened' storyline that everyone agrees on. There's arguments about when and where the few events we DO know for sure happened actually took place, or even when they happened in relation to each other.
Really, FNAF4 is where the house of cards that people had been building collapsed, because it seemingly goes against key details in the previous games. It's not really comparable to Undertale because Undertale has the fortune of having a creator who took his damn time making a single, solid game and story, and not shitting out sequels faster than he could double check to make sure shit still made sense at the end of the day.
Honestly, if you're curious about it, give FNAF1 a try. The gameplay is widely regarded as among the best of the series and the story elements and how they are presented are largely favorites as well. If you find that you enjoy the few bits of lore you're finding on your own and want to know more, but hate the gameplay, just look up playthroughs of 2 because most people find the gameplay of 2 to be the worst of the series.
They aren't very long games by any means, you can probably beat FNAF1 in a few hours even without having seen it before.

That's not how autism works, anon. It's more than just becoming easily obsessed with something, it's also about having trouble reading facial expressions and reading social cues in general. Those are the biggest parts. And even with the obsession part, I don't think having lore or an AU makes anybody autistic by itself, because it doesn't necessarily mean they're obsessive. By itself, it just means that they like making stories. It's already been said multiple times that FNAF makes a good OC template since everything's pretty vague and the characters are basically blank slates.
I'm not saying it means someone isn't, I'm just saying that it doesn't mean they are by default.
I think this place has a mixture of people who are genuinely on the autism spectrum and people who aren't. And with the people who are on that autism spectrum, obviously some are more extreme than others.

I already did a thread or so ago and only one person responded, and I continued that discussion but they never replied.
But, it's not so much "I'm right and everyone else is wrong hurr" it's more that the way I think the plot fits together makes sense to me even if it's not canon, and I hoped other people would try to do the same since there are a lot of inventive and imaginative people here. Plenty of OCfags with their own AUs, plenty of writers who strung along a story just fine by piecing the plot together in their own way. People never had an issue with doing it in the past, but just because there's no singular agreed on plot now that 4 is in the mix people seem to have stopped even though that never stopped them before.
I've seen Ghost and maybe one or two other people even touch the Nightmares/4's content. It's just frustrating because it's not like anyone's vision of the FNAF universe was 100% canon beforehand, yet now that there's confusing information in the mix no one's really bothering to try to piece it together, even though it could be interesting. That's what frustrates me.

The moment Scott told us that kid ghosts and a murderous employee were responsible for everything we rejected everything he's said and done. The Nightmare Animatronics are overdesigned edgy pieces of shit no normal person would ever be afraid of trying too hard to make Scott look like he knows anything he's going. It was ovious from the moment Scott announced a second game that he was only doing this to trick Youtube celebrities and autistic out of their money and he succeeded with flying colors. The problem with 4 is that it contradicts the other three games so hard that it's almost impossible to fit it in to any storyline that's based off of FNAF. There's so many retcons, contradictions, and just straight-up errors that attempting to incorporate 4's story into a pre-existing AU would be a disaster. As for the nightmares, in addition to having plain dumb designs, have very little lore significance due to simply being products of a child's mind instead of real, possessed killing machines. This isn't to say that no OCfag tries to add elements from 4; people like Ghost, Starchy, Springroll, and even Benis have incorporated elements from 4 into their stories and many others have created 4-related content. I just imagine that it's a huge pain in the ass to deal with all of the inconsistency 4 presents.

I want to agree with you so badly because I genuinely adore FNAF4 for gameplay, the surreal contrast between Nightmares and the house, and the focus on audio and atmosphere but... FNAF 4 really is difficult to fit into AUs. There is one part of my content I take a lot of pride in, and that's having a consistent story across ALL my stories, from Mangled to Pieces to GhostQuest to TWY, it all weaves together. However, I had to give that up for Le Cauchemar, it's a spinoff because I found no strings to possibly connect Fredbear being the biter into canon because until FNAF4 there was no remote indication he did it. Incorporating Nightmares as they represent themselves in FNAF4 in any AU is a bitch.
That said, I always looked at FNAF4's story as more a spinoff/side tale anyways so maybe that's why the narrative's conjunction with the other games didn't bother me so much.
