Well I just explained why pulling the SD card is retarded as fuck. That works only to make the thing worse, if it won't reboot you wait, and if it don't do anything you turn off the console pulling the SD card while the program might be trying to access it or whatever is silly. At worst you end up doing just more damage with that than just hard reboot. Like said I had the reboot hand few times for few 3DS'es and it was fine every time.

The problem here is that when you format sysNAND to unlink NANDs, it tells Nintendo to log out your NNID from your 3DS. But, as you cloned your sysNAND to emuNAND before doing that, your emuNAND is still logged in although Nintendo's servers think it's not.
Next time you want to unlink NANDs, use TinyFormat on sysNAND.

I wrote this some threads ago so have like most fast way I can type this out because I am lazy.
Backup emunand. Emunand9 or emunand tool.
Backup your nintendo 3DS folder entirely from your SD card to your PC.
Boot to your emunand and open system settings, other settings and format system.
After that boot back to emunand, do initial system settings and so on. Then go to system settings and NNID, connect back to your NNID.
After that is done, shut down system, restore your emuNAND with emunandtool or if that don't work (did not with N3DS for me) emuNAND9. Then copy the old Nintendo 3DS folder to your SD too.
And should be OK again. This is caused by you deactivating your system with unlinking nands.

It's pretty much impossible to brick during a downgrade now unless you pick the wrong firmware files. I had a partial downgrade where it only patched half the files and it still booted into recovery mode, where you can upgrade it to 10.3 and then downgrade to 9.2. Of course, this all goes out the window if you wait until Nintendo releases 10.4 because then you can't use recovery mode.
If the 3DS is coming from Nintendo, it's probably on 9.6 firmware or higher; the N3DS I bought the other day was at least. And at that point you've got to downgrade anyway.

If you have access to HBL you can already use the GW Menu to get stuff ready. Back the SD card up, make a NAND backup with GW and then format the Emunand.
After that it's a cause of putting roms in the GW cart and you're good to go.

On Sysnand get Menuhax set up and put some garbage as the Internet Connections.
From then on you'll autoboot into Emunand and should theoretically be safe forever now that 9.6+ is supported.

For O3DS you don't need to do anything special with a Gateway. Here's a quick rundown for a vanilla 3DS with no emuNAND:
1. Format SD card as FAT32
2. Download Gateway firmware and put Launcher.dat at root of SD card
3. Use the 3DS browser to go to http://go.gateway-3ds.com/ or http://3ds.reboot.ms
4. Format emuNAND
5. Boot into Gateway Mode
6. You can put FBI.cia on your internal SD card and FBI.3ds on your Gateway card. Press Select in Gateway mode and you can boot FBI.3ds. If you want, you can use it to install the cia version, but you don't have to.
7. Use TinyFormat to format your emuNAND.
8. Make double damn sure you're in Gateway Mode (it will say GW<Version String> in Settings) and then upgrade the emuNAND to 10.3

I use a 64GB Samsung Evo SDXC.
SDXC cards are only not compatible when they're in the exFAT format they come in, as opposed to the FAT32 they need to be.
Windows won't let you format it to FAT32 for some reason, so you'll need another tool.
After that you're good to go.

If you are using O3D it is almost identical instead of the firmware thing, pretty much. That guide works for O3DS and all you do differently is download O3DS firmware files with the python script RXtools itself has, than going hunting for others. But you should now use cakes or reinand on N3DS anyway, thouigh RXtools is really great for it's toolbox.
Also if you want latest RXtools and I know the nightly site is not very good

I see people saying that the browserhax method is still working, but I'm having trouble getting it to launch homebrew still. The starter kit is on my sd card and I changed my DNS to Google's DNS. When I open browser, all it does is try to load the page and then takes me to a blank white screen in the browser. I also cleared all of my history and cookies and initialized save data on the browser.
I'm honestly not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm on O3DS 9.2.0-20.

Since games are around 1.5gb - 2 gb and I only have 2.7 gb on the card so with everything I have on there from the stuff naturally on the card I can't even get a single game onto my 3ds

I tried migrating the data from the old stock card to a new 16 gb card that I made sure was compatible. I start it up and boot rxtools but then the program tells me it can't boot emuNAND and starts the other shit instead.

SysUpdater is a fucking piece of shit. When you're starting it, it will either:
- Freeze to a black screen on start
- Freeze after displaying the text on the screen.
- Freeze after you press Y to downgrade
- Error out saying it couldn't load CIA info
- Error out while patching
As long as it doesn't freeze after it starts actually patching (Don't reboot after it says "Getting CIA info" unless it shows the above "Couldn't load CIA info error") then you can just reboot your system and try again. You may have to try many, many, many times. Hundreds for some people. Seriously. And if it errors while patching you need to boot into recovery mode (Power off, then hold L+R+Up+A while powering on), which will upgrade your system to 10.3 so you can try again.
Use SafeSysUpdater instead, it just works.

When you press L while booting rxtools you get decryption, etc tools whatever. What I most generally use myself is XORpad generator. Of course most of these tools also have alternative of decrypt 9 more or less.

DLC is the same as installing a game. You'll need to update the games first, which can be done by installing update cias or using the eShop since you can on 10.3.

localization is more than just censorship. also they replace a lot of things in the text/ things are lost in translation that you can't get from the localized text. it'd actually be a pain in the ass finding everything wrong with all the localized text instead of translating everything uncensored by scratch. i believe the only real thing they are having trouble with is translating the third path and DLC because there is currently no way to apply patches to DLC for translations and install modded DLC and have the game recognize it afaik.

install 10.3.0-28 emuNAND then install it with BigBlueMenu then use BootNTR and use the Japanese language emulation plugin for the demo. the ID for the folder you need is on 3DSiso. put langemu_jp.plg in /plugins/[ID]/
