I tried Ninja Squid without any Swim Speed once, just for curiosity's sake.
It was fucking torture. I'm used to having Swim Speed, and this was the complete opposite. It felt like I'd been hit with a permanent Disruptor.
The sluggish movement, the low top speed, yuck. They nerfed Ninja Squid into the ground. Sure, you can just stack Swim Speeds, but 2 mains and a bunch of subs barely normalizes the effect. That's pretty much your entire loadout used on invisible swimming and normal swim speed.
It's a niche ability that's useful sometimes, but you have to give up so much for it.
It'd be like if Ink Resistance halved your Run Speed. Any time you're not on enemy ink, you'd waddle around at SSPro speeds. Would it be worth it?

Yeah, the Zink's Secondary is a Disruptor, which is basically a Flashbang that slows your target, and the Special is a Bubbler, which you should know as the force field.
Put those two together and you are one tough bastard to fight.
Range and damage wise it's pretty good. You just need to get used to its picky fire-and-release method.

Honestly, splatting opponents in TW is just as important as in any other mode. If you're dead, then you can't ink the ground, plain and simple. Not to mention you leave behind a puddle of enemy ink, which helps the opposing team in TW more than in any other mode.
It's true you can win a TW match without the most splats, but then again I've had ranked matches where everyone on out team had a negative k/d going on, but we still won. gotta play the objective.

Swim speed isn't something I care about considering my team mates seem to either go for splats or tunnel vision the objective with no thought for map control and movement.
As for ink management I find I play worse when I have too much inksaver abilities. This is the sweet spot when I have just enough. The only other ability I use is QR and that's usually 1 main. 2 at most

How to get gud at ranked splat zone?
I've been doing okay when my team has some brains because once we control the center I know to try to kill enemies and keep them away, but when one person on my team is a shitter and wants to play ranked turf war and we lose the center, I'm REALLY bad at attacking into an area fortified by 4 inklings.

Is aerospray alright in ranked if you're trying to support your team? I'm not the best with the chargers and if I'm using a roller I die to everything because I can't ranged counter attack.

if its something with alternate routes and your teammates are barreling down the middle, run around and shoot the other team in the back.
if its pretty closed or theyre holding you from going anywhere, get your special. in SZ probably the best idea is to run suction bomb rush, kraken or inkzooka just to be able to come back from a tough game, and the enemy wont have any problems giving you free special points if you shoot the ground near them. just trade turf until youve got enough to stage a rebellion.

I prefer different abilities at different times depending on mode, map and team mates. If I'm playing TC and RM the QR heavy outfit comes out. For Splat Zones or with good team mates I have only one QR and the rest is ink and damage up. With damn good team mates it's all strength up. For Turf War it's nothing but ink savers and no DU

tfw i did the very same thing last night. I don't think I've ever had a more torturous experience. Ninja Squid by itself is practically pointless since you can slow tilt at almost the same speed. The ability only pays with a fuckload of Swim Speed Ups. But yeah the trade-off is huge and if you dont find the perks of swimming undetected are worth that trade-off, then Ninja Squid is definitely a waste.

second why would knowing your strengths and weaknesses invalidate your ability to have fun? if youre using all kinds or random shit game in and game out, youre changing all kinds or variables that could affect the decisions you make.
for example, if you use a swim speed loadout then move on to a quick respawn one, chances are you might still have the swim speed mindset and make a stupid decision based on that. at least when you use the same gear every time, you know what situations you can handle and which you cant. its simple.
