If you could save the gote, you'd basically have to rewrite the lore about how weak monsters' souls are, and assume that Asriel's soul didn't actually die. And then, there would still be a plothole with the Neutral and Genocide fights with Asgore.

There's enough bullshit ambiguity with both how souls work or the time travel stuff that you could probably conceive a way for it to happen.
The issue is establishing it in a way it would not feel like a deus ex machina, which would require a larger story expansion.

When is it ever implied that Gaster or Papyrus use orange attack? The only thing I can think of is that Asgore has both and probably knew Gaster but that doesn't mean Gaster gave it to him, I don't think it works like that.
