How in the fuck do you get Super Mario World hacks working on retroarch? IPS patching only gives me a black screen. Snes9x can't seem to soft patch when using retroarch either. Soo I don't know if it's the ISO (which I don't think it is) or ppsspp itself, but when I try playing Hitman Reborn Battle Arena 2 I get some weird shit going on. When Player 1 moves to the right side and starts facing left, the character will moonwalk when trying to move to the right and will reverse shuffle when trying to move to the left. Basically directional inputs and the sprite itself aren't mirrored as they should be when on the right facing left i.e. trying to dash to the left will make you dash to the right and vice versa.

I've tried multiple ISOs and they were all the same albeit they were dumped by the same group (couldn't find any that weren't dumped by Caravan) but that shouldn't be a problem because I've seen videos of the people playing the game normally using that dump.
>>
>>126457481
That really sounds like the emulator messing something up. If you're using the latest version try downgrading to whatever version's known to work.

If I had to take a guess, it's CRT-Royale using the shadow mask filter. You need a 4k monitor or to downscale from 4k to properly use it. Keep in mind that downscaling won't look as good as an actual 4k monitor though

>>
>>126476885
You'd need to compile it. If you can't compile it yourself, I could upload it somewhere for you if you know of a simple file sharing site I can use without registering or some shit.

That being said, just like another anon in the thread said earlier, it might be because you were using a headered/non-headered ROM when you were supposed to use the reverse.

http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/400/

This utility will tell you if your ROM has a header or not, and will let you remove/add them easily without doing HEX fuckery. Use it on a clean ROM, give it a header if the patch needs it, remove the header if it doesn't, and then try it before we resort to bzsnes.

What actually makes higan more difficult to use compared to other SNES emulators and bsnes v073? If it's the game folders, then that's only one extra, minor step.
>>
>>126511041

I was referring to its page in the Emulation General Wiki. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Higan

Tell me about emulating pokemon games. I was thinking about starting with LeafGreen/FireRed but from my understanding you can't complete the game without trading and I didn't know how the emulator handled that. I mean I guess it could sense the battery files from the other game but I wanted to consult the necrosages first.
>>
>>126523440
I think you can't 100% it because there are some Pokemons available only on certain versions, but only the peak autists 100% Pokemon anyway.

>>
>>126523440

You can complete the story, sure. You just can't 100% it the entire game.

There's ROM hacks that add all Pokémon to each game, though.

Isn't "100%ing" a game or even trying to a good diagnostic sign for autism and should never actually be attempted by a normal human? Back when I was on Gamefaqs long ago I used to think it was harmless, but now I realize there are thousands, perhaps millions of people, wasting their lives collecting every single thing, every single item, doing every side quest in a game, etc.

Pretty much.

Isn't Pokemon relatively easy to complete 100%? Trading aside it's just about capturing each Pokemon once right? That sounds relatively fun if you enjoy the game (I don't).

You're right to not like them for screenshots. Gaming mags didn't slap a CRT filter on their screenshots of games: they took the source image, the real game. They showed that. Once someone has the source they can apply whatever filter they want to it--but by taking a pic of an already filtered screen you are denying that possibility.

1.) Download Final Burn Alpha
2.) Download a Neo-Geo ROM. For example, I will use Metal Slug 2
3.) DON'T FUCKING CHANGE THE NAME OF THE ROM! For Metal Slug 2, it'll be named "mslug2.zip". If the site you downloaded it from does not automatically have Metal Slug 2 named that, it is a shitty site you should never visit again. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Do not unzip the ROM, you want to load the .zip.
4.)Point Final Burn Alpha to that shit and run it

This isn't rocket science, but it's a bit archaic in terms of usability if you've never done it before.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/fba-libretro/master/svn-current/trunk/gamelist.txt

When in doubt, here is a list of all the ROMs Final Burn Alpha supports, and what they should be named.

1 - get retroarch
2 - get mame core
3 - download a bios pack for mame, which will most likely include neogeo
4 - download the rom you want in .zip
5 - put everything (game and bios in zip format) in the same folder
6 - Load Content > (navigate to path) > (game).zip

Set the resolution in the core-options to 640 x 480 and the RSP to cxd4. Enjoy playing your N64 games at 12 FPS unless you have a NASA super cluster.

When there's many systems I'm interested in playing via emulator, I think it's fair to be picky. I don't have time to work on all of them, so I have to pick the most suitable ones to work on.
Aside from N64, I'm interested in Sega Saturn, Ps1, Ps2, Gamecube, Wii, and maybe a few arcade systems. I'm also interested in Sega genesis and SNES, but I feel that emulators for those 2 systems are probably good enough imo.
