I'm sorry to say this but Vendrick is really one of the bosses that you need to gitgud. He attacks slowly and his left leg is a blind spot. You just need to focus for that whole duration and not let him catch you off-guard, because he can 2-shot you.

I have to say dark souls is much nicer to play now that I'm using a controller. Any tips for character building? For my first attempted play through I wanted to be a noble knight and I dumped all my stats into resistance and faith, made the game a little hard. I think a lord of cinder is somebody who has figured out how to control their soul and holds the flame within themselves, and by killing other lords of cinder your soul (and flame as a result) gets bigger and your influence and power grows until you hit some kind of critical mass and ascend to godhood

So few people understand that the estus system of DaS1 comes with it's own share of problems, considering you can just run past everything and save your 20 estus to cheese the 'hard' stuff that has been balanced around way fewer charges.
DaS2 was more about surviving individual encounters by timing your heals instead of avoiding damage altogether.
Also another good point was how multiple enemies changed up the fights every encounter due to desynched attacks, whereas DaS1's 1v1's could be figured out quickly and posed no challenge after a while.

Level up to 145 at least, so you can get matched with 150, which is the majority in arena, and probably aren't buffstacking douchebags. If you're outside the 145~155 spectrum, you're forced to wait to get matched with these people because they get matched against themselves, then the game matches you against someone with triple your sm.
