Eh, I just don't agree with it being a good starter mech I think. I don't think many Clan mechs right now are good starter mechs due to their recent re-ballance and Clan heat sink nerfs. But you'll have to come across that sooner or later anyway, so there's no point in defending you from it or steering you away from it. Clans lasers are still very meta regardless.
I didn't care much for the Warhammer or the Rifleman, but for whatever reason I'm tempted to buy the Archer.

Airstrikes and arty will only be marked wherever the torso cross-hairs are pointing, not the circle.
Best advised to aim it at ground near or under enemies not at them directly, sometimes instead of the mech you'll get whatever's behind the mech, and if that's a wall 1k meters behind the mech, tough shit.

The problem again is that most people who play CW in kong are in GONK, which is clan only. So you won't be able to use your firestarter if you go that way.
Also keep in mind that it costs just about the same to fit out clan and IS robits even though the up-front price of clams are much higher.
lastly, you don't have to have the tip top robots to play, just hop onto mumble and ask if anyone is on. Specifically ask for kaelus

Clan robots are still more expensive in the long run because a large stable of IS mechs will eventually start gathering a large enough variety of parts to share with each other for any build. Since only four of them need to be ready to go at any one time for CW, the cost savings add up over time. Only the purchase of double heat sinks and weight savers really need to be factored into the cost, and numerous mechs already come with doubles.
Clan IICs are a whole different proposition though. It is nice that the whole collection adds up to exactly 250, which is why they increased the weight cap recently.

If there's one thing PGI does well, it's that it recognizes this fact and caters to those people.
From bad, to worse - the story of how I went from playing with clan wolf pugs, to playing with clan smoke jaguar pugs.

Imagine all the things a summoner could do if it could mount a ballistic weapon where the missile is. Or had a variant with 1-2 energy hardpoints in the side torsos.
Or an ice ferret that had more energy hardpoints to give it brawling viability. or an adder that could stack more lasers.
But nope, instead we gotta just nerfbat the entirety of the clans to try and placate scrubs that rush into the guns of timber wolves, ebon jaguars or hellbringers.

Leaderboards don't count your match score, there is separate formula for this. Formula: (Solo Kill x 30) + (Kill Most Damage x 20) + (Killing Blow x 10) + ( Kill Assist x 10) + (Win × 10) + (Loss × 5) + (Survive × 10) + (Dead × 5) + ((Damage done - Team Damage) ÷ 15). Which means If you win while being alive killing 8 persons doing 1200 DMG and getting assists on all enemy team, you will get 300-400 score instead of 1k.
