I am not saying it is a flawless game, however, I find the sum of it's parts much greater than anything else in the series. This is just myopinionthough.
This could be mostly fromnostalgiaand I concede to that point, but, only one other game has really been nearly as fun, fulfilling, and worthwhile to me after the thousands of hours I've pumped into it. You know I'm very happy that the Remake connects to the Compilation. Therefore it will be equally non-canon. Now I can buy it without fear that it will tarnish my future experiences with the original. (Reading 'Not interested' for the first time in some time after years of Lightning was quite discordant.) On the massive plus side, maybe we'll see Cissnei and if I'm extremely lucky my third or fourth favorite protagonist, Shotgun, will be declared canon. (Not going to happen.) I mean she's Laguna with the professionalism and competence of a Turk. What's not to like?

Well, I never saw any faults storywise in the original. Some ambiguity is good for you. I'm one of those who would unironically say it's a perfect game. I've played through it 36 times. But not liking it is quite alright with me.
The actual faults of the game are:
1. It's too easy.
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HKHQWoMX8o is the worst Chocobo theme in the series.
3. Gilgamesh doesn't make an appearance.
4. It's hard to see in the background where to go on the initial playthrough. And some puzzles are tough. Like the gong in Wutai.
5. The translation is pretty bad. (I played the original PC release, which had a better translation. Honey Bee Inn was much more comprehensible and it was possible to discern that Tseng hadn't died from Elena. It was still very spotty. Also it was a different translation than the one in the Steam release by the way.)
6. The characters are interchangable. (I like this. I like playing who I wish, even if I always revolve the whole party in any game. No matter how many times I've played through them already.)
Out of these only the first is troublesome to me. Challenge runs feel very artificial in this game. A shame. It's my second favorite FF and my favorite is filled with flaws.

It was my favorite FF for a long time and it's a pretty short game overall. It's fun and has never grown old for me. I just like replaying this series in general and in time it adds up.
Much more alarmingly I also replay mainline FFs I hate quite a bit. Mostly because I want to debate them negatively as thoroughly as possible. (Not in this thread though. This is a safe haven for people that I know love Final Fantasy as much as I. No matter which entries they like.)

With the upcoming banners, generally it's safe to skip banner 3 unless your a tidusfag. 1 and 2 are pretty good, 4-5 are situational.
People probably ought to start bracing for the new ultimate boss battles in events, which are just lifa-tree tier RNG/slugfests.

Aside from SG Banner 2 is pretty boring, actually, the only other thing going for it is Attack Reels which isn't all that good, and Cloud's SSB is easily the worst since it's the first. Banner 1 is good, though, has both Oerba's Boon and Stoneskin II.
Banner 3 does have Golem's Flute and Cypress Pile which are decent mage items for those lacking, but otherwise it is still pretty lackluster.
Banner 4 has Lulu's hairpin which is nice, and Trance Flood I guess, Tyro's SSB definitely means it's situational though, same as banner 5.
Personally I'd go for 1 and 4, but that's just me.

I just got around to thinking about this, but I'm pretty sure Terra is actually more shit than Rosa when it comes to how much she inconveniences the party. Rosa was constantly getting kidnapped and getting put into comas, and honestly, Terra is exactly the same. Think about it:

Anyone really familiar with FFV? I keep trying to play it but my autism kicks in midway through and I cave and look up on the internet whether X job is worth leveling and stupid shit like that to find the best jobs/combos and then burn out on the game.
How much does this shit really matter even matter in the long run? I just play wanting to try out X job/job combo and then I notice it being not great against bosses or whatnot and look it up and find its bad or worse than some other job and then say "fuck that I spent so long leveling that job already" and stop playing the game

I am really familiar with FFV. Don't really worry about jobs; V is easy enough to go through with nearly any setup and you'll never permanently be locked out of anything. The game expects you to experiment.

By the end of the game each character can master about three to four jobs without a need for grinding. Mastering one bad job isn't the end of the world as it still gives Freelancer a stat buff.

it's not too big of a deal, you won't miss much or gain much.
if you're worried about things to miss though, you definitely want to get some Blue Magic at the earliest time (they're all available at the end but it's better to have them earlier), or some certain Summons (Catoblepas and Golem), or remember to play all the pianos for a bard skill.

Give everyone Monk levels until they unlock the ability that lets them hit with Monk power no matter their class, this helps a ton in the early game.
