Yeah, you aren't wrong on that since there is so much more going on in Dark Souls. I'm of the opposite opinion of Yurt/Lautrec though, since I think the latter's wholehearted devotion to his goddess gives him more character. Yurt was still cool though.

In DaS1, AotA makes the MLGS and the Furysword useless, and any infused weapons even more so?
While not as pronounced in DaS2, the bosses took noticably more damage from physical damage as opposed to infused, with some having one weakness, like Aava, Lud and Zallen being weak to fire.

Common hotspots for PvP are still alive. Iron Bridge is more active than you'd think, it's just that very few people put down signs for some reason.
BoB Arena is alive. Blueberry arena is ded cause blues are useless.

If you like the moveset, sure. Hand axe may have a short range but it's pretty fast for an axe. Otherwise just try out a few other weapons, and find something you like.

More unsatisfying then boring. You lift a stick, wiggle it around, make a noise straight out of a Disney movie, and send a blue thing flying.
The only time it feels even remotely satisfying is when it hits something with low hp/poise like hollow warriors, where it actually feels like it has an impact.
But with spells like soul spear that just goes through enemies it feels like they die from a heart attack and not from the fucking focused pure energy spear piercing their chest.

Which is exactly why the DS2 system of no healing for phantoms other than spells was so good, it encouraged hyper aggression because if you play the midrange chip game the host could just chug, but if push came to shove you could always run away hide behind enemies and cast a long spell but you couldn't really do it in combat.
As an invader you waited for the host somewhere or just ran into him, then fought until one of you died and the whole ordeal would be over fairly fast

I enjoy these games but i'm really bad at them. What is the most casual easy mode build for pve in ds2?
I bought sotfs at launch and got through the main game, it was a struggle but I made it. but the in the dlc I cannot even beat the first boss in the first dlc. I ended up just setting the game aside for the time. Now i'm interested in giving it another shot. so what can a casual like me do to get through the dlc?

The issue with that would be that weapon levels even in DS2 cost next to nothing when compared to leveling up, a +10 weapon is worth far more than a single level but both cost the same amount of souls past the 60 level range
The easiest fix would just have every upgrade add a +1 to your SL matchmaking, a +10/15/whatever weapon and level 50 would be just as strong as a level 60/65.

Grab any rapier (ricards and Ice Rapier are worse but still workable) pump ADP until you get 99/105 AGL, 2 hand your rapier and just R1/R2 shit to death, if you can stagger an enemy with a strong attack then just mash him to death before he can attack you, if you can't stagger with a strong attack then roll 1 attack and them mash them to death.
Ring of Blades and Leo Ring make life a lot easier
