Because it's referred to as a separate civilization, and the dungeons in it are populated almost exclusively by beasts. I haven't found any hyperarmor on it, at least compared to ludwig's. I have gotten some trades with charged R2 but it was really late in the animation, too late to rely on it. This was in PvE anyways, in PvP it probably works way better thanks to latency.

That's right. It reduces the effectiveness of beast blood pellets, reduces frenzy resistance and makes some enemies harder. The only plus side is that huge amounts of insight can permit you to see things in the game before they are normally visible, like the amygdalas in cathedral ward.
Otherwise, it's essentially just a currency used for summoning and buying things at the insight bath. Insight is your san, the higher it gets, the less sane you are. The only reason to hold any at all is to spend it.

Maria was easier to parry. A lot of my shots go over/under/through him when I try to parry his aggressive attacks, and even with 2 clawmark runes I'm parrying for less than 5% of his HP.

Ludwig's pretty easy, mate. You can beat the firstform by dodging forward though every attack into the blindspot under him and mashing R1. You can literally corner him and mash R1 until the second form. 2nd is only threatening because it shits damage. Attacks are slow and telegraphed with short active times and he's really easy to knock down. I visceraled him 3 times on NG+ by just mashing R1 in his crotch.

God this is perfect.
This is hands down the best invasion and hosting spot in whole series. Ambient sounds, sound of rain itself, gamma, everything is just perfect and sets up some great mood for playing as an arcane archer of sorts.

L2 hits through walls and on a 50 ARC character with the right gems can hit for upwards of 1.4k to 2k for a measly 2 bullets. It's ridiculously overpowered, much better than a Call Beyond.

The biggest indication is the fact that she calls herself a corpse, ad only becomes aggressive when the player disturbs her. It seems to be implying that she wishes to remain dead, from which you can infer that the stuff around her are circumstantial evidence of suicide.
On a different note: why doesn't Maria take damage when she stabs herself with her swords? She's obviously vulnerable to stabbing or else your attacks wouldn't deal any damage, but she doesn't hurt herself when she does it.

They probably assume that you're progressing through the level and they'll serve as an obstacle. It really kind of defeats the purpose of invading when you invade a host that's already beaten the stage and is just lingering for duels. I wish you could filter between pvpfags looking for a fight and hists with summons that are advancing through a stage. For BLT, you're stuck with Chikage and Evelyn all the way until you get the Bloodletter 7/8ths of the way through the DLC.
For ARC, you need to look up the Arcane gem farming guides or you will be lost as sheep. The good news is that as an ARC, you have a shit ton of hunter tools + the ability to make any physical weapon into an ARC weapon if you meet their requirements

Well, the nightmare isn't really pulling things in, it's preserving the image of something from long ago and forcing hunters that have died to relive it. Take Laurence for example, the sacred addage is in the Cathedral outside the nightmare, while he's still alive and kicking in the nightmare. So the nightmare is basically a purgatory where hunters go when they die for good.
What I really don't get is why there are two cathedrals, and in one Laurence has a human skull, while in the other he's the first cleric beast. Maybe it's just supposed to be depicting two different points in time, but then the human skull that 'only' exists in the nightmare is fucking strange.

Which weapon are you using? Any fast weapons benefit more from +flat gems because they have very low moveset multipler. Kos parasites and slow weapons get a bigger boost from % dmg. Nobody knows why the Cold Abyssal gems are so powerful, just that they are and only one works.

Is it just me or Bloodletter really feels like a pthumerian weapon and not something created by the church?
It's pretty much a blood version of Elder's staff. Chikage and other blood blades are only able to imbue the blade with blood, but bloodletter actually forms a solid structure from it, something that no other weapon in the game does.
So why are half the classes completely useless?
I can't find a good reason to start as anything that isnt' military veteran, violent past or cruel fate.
