Is there a secret trick to the boom hammer? I got it to +10 and put all the best gems i had into it and despite it doing decent damage with the ignite going, it still falls short to the whirligig saw per hit. I was under the impression the boom hammer was going to do good damage per hit to make up for the big stamina consumption and shit moveset. That being said, Ludwig did get to have a moment of sanity and fight you properly before he died. Artorias didn't get that.

Artorias didn't have to deal with the darkness for very long since it was time travel and you got to kill him when he became corrupted.
Ludwig was stuck in that nightmare for ages as a rape horse losing his mind unable to even perceive the presence of the moonlight sword on his own back. He sat around never knowing if the church hunters were honorable and just. He was surrounded by living corpses moaning and unable to die.
Plus Artorias was pretty much dead when you met him, it's like pulling the plug on someone that had a lobotomy and is in a coma with 90% of his body failed.

Maria can be parry cheesed and stun locked and her second and third phases are just her normals with more range.
